Trying to plan a retro 60's dinner party - can anyone give me ideas for menu and drinks thx?

Was thinking prawn cocktail to start %26amp; chocolate fondue (fountain) for dessert but struggling with main course and as I was born in 68 i'm struggling for inspiration. Also would like ideas for cocktails %26amp; drinks.Trying to plan a retro 60's dinner party - can anyone give me ideas for menu and drinks thx?
Not sure a chocolate fondue was a 60s thing!

Black Forest Gateau now - THAT was the thing to go with the prawn cocktail!

Main would have been something posh like steak diane or steak au poivre. Chicken thighs baked in ham or bacon with sweetcorn was another I remember being served (when I was very young of course!)

Cocktails would have been served in wide cocktail glasses - margueritas I seem to recall being popular (according to my mum anyway!)
you could fine plates that look like TV dinner containers and serve really good homemade dinner in them. Something like Roast Beef tenderloin, Greens beans with bacon crumbles and roasted red potatoes.Trying to plan a retro 60's dinner party - can anyone give me ideas for menu and drinks thx?
If it's the sixties, you will definitely need some babychams and some Campari!

Have a great time!
Psychadelic looking cocktails might be fun like Midori sour, hypnotiq mixed with whatever you want, vodka cranberries... etc. and serve them in funky style glasses with red and green marchiano cherries on toothpicks plunked in there. There's a place to buy 60s candies that you could put out in bowls.

The Emma Peel

The Emma Peel

鈥?1 oz. cherry brandy

鈥?1 oz. pineapple juice

鈥?Mionetto Prosecco Brut (dry sparkling wine)

Mix first two ingredients into a mixing glass with ice to chill. Strain into a Prosecco glass and fill with Mionetto Prosecco Brut. Garnish with a long spiral of lemon peel.

Non-Alcoholic 鈥?Gatorade, Coca Cola and Slurpees

vegetarian chili, guacamole with chips, zucchini bread, lemon bars, carrot cake and, of course, granola.
meatloaf

mac %26amp; cheese

ham steak

pot raost
For main course, try Duck a l'orange, Coq au vin, Boeuf Bourginion. Or have a cheese fondue as the main and Black Forest gateau as the pud.

For cocktails, it has to be home-made Martini or Cinzano

What should I do for my 14th birthday party?

so im going to have a sleepover with 17 other people and i dont know what to do to entertain my guests

i have a chocolate fondue fountain and will have snacks to go with it

i need to know what kind of games/movies/food to have at my party so any ideas are welcome

thanx a bunch! What should I do for my 14th birthday party?
well im about to turn 14 soon and i was worrying about this to. You could play 'have you ever'. For this game everyone sits in a circle and holds up 10 fingers. You go around the circle and everyone says something like "have you ever kissed a boy" or other questions and everyone that has done that puts down a finger and the last one that is still in the game wins. For food i split people into groups of 2 or 3 and lay out tons of food on the counter and each group makes something a let there be a judge and whoever has the best food wins.it sounds stupid but its tons of fun. and some great movies to watch are Stick It, 13 going on 30, Baby Mama, Sisterhood of the traveling pants 1 %26amp; 2, The House Bunny, and Prom Night(but prom night is kinda scary)
Play twister, watch a funny movie, have food and drinks available the whole time. Just keep it active and not boring. What should I do for my 14th birthday party?
get movies

music

and flash lightes

if the weather is okay at night go outside play ghost in the grave yard
Movies to rent:

~Mean Girls

~Sisterhood of the traveling pants 2

~The Clique Movie

~Titanic

~Dream Girls

~Across The Universe

Games:

~Twister (always fun!)

Food:

~Soda

~Pizza

~Chips

~Candy

Anything else your guests might enjoy! What should I do for my 14th birthday party?
If I were you I would rent the movie sister hood of the traveling pants 1 and 2..they are good girly movies...for food you can never go wrong with pizza, nachos, chips and dip. For games twister is an old game but its really fun with all those ppl you got coming...by two or three of those since you have 17 ppl coming..hope you have fun and found this useful!!
Have board games like monopoly, Twister, etc.

for movies you should defiantly have a comedy that no one in the room has seen yet because if they have seen it they will properly get bored

and ruin it for everyone.

and for foods you should order pizza and lots of junk food but at least have something that is not junk because its bad for health and someone might get sick and you don't want that.

and you could ask people that are going what they want to do before the sleepover that way you have everything ready. and you should also have music and if you don't want to pay for everything (because 17 people is ALLOT for a sleepover) you should have every person from the sleepover bring 1 thing.
Have everyone bring a bag of change and play 18 people blackjack.
OMFG YOUR 14 TOO

AND YOU LIKE TOKIO HOTEL

YAY

I LOVE TOKIO HOTEL

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!鈥?br>
(i am too young to go to their concerts though)

What meal can I make for a woman to really impress her?

There's a girl that I really like, and I would like to impress her by cooking for her on Valentine's Day...

I'm not much of a cook, so something easy and fast would be nice. I have a fondue set that I'd like to use for desert, so maybe something that goes well with chocolate fondue?

Any ideas would help, thanks! What meal can I make for a woman to really impress her?
Cheese on toast. --
How about fish, seafood, or a nice, juicy steak? What meal can I make for a woman to really impress her?
Depends on what her fav. food is.

But, a man cooking in the first place is impressive.

And I love chocolate. =)
I always get take out, ,and throw away the boxes , and put it in cookware to look as if I did it....Thank you Applebee's ,and you too O'Charlie'sWhat meal can I make for a woman to really impress her?
I think you should find out what kind of food she likes and then incorporate those ingredients into a dish she'll like.

p.s. not all women like chocolate.
you can do all types of fondue!

she'll feel like she's at the melting pot. cheese and chocolate fondue's are always good!

find out her favorite food, and go for it.

to go with chocolate fondue, i'd use strawberries, pretzels, bananas, pineapple-fresh is always best, you can also put the chocolate onto almonds, walnuts, or pecans.

have fun! :)
How about spaghetti with ground beef in it and a jar of ragu spaghetti sauce. It is easy to make and really good. Get a loaf of french bread, put some garlic and butter on it. Whip up a quick lettuce and tomatoe salad. A bottle of Italian wine, and you have prepared a wonderful romantic Italian dinner for two. Don't forget candles, soft music, and chocolate fondue for dessert. Good luck. :-)
girls women love chocolate. they like dove candy .milk or dark .but thats love . a meal
Get some filet mignon, butterflied, grill it if possible, no larger than 8oz. wrap edge in bacon if you want more flavor.

Cook up some wild rice or normal as small side dish. Instant rice can work easy, 1 minute.

Get some dinner rolls or biscuits from store, tube or package is fine, just get name brand, not store brand.

If old enough to drink, nice bottle of wine to go w/ the meal.

Single large lilly with carnations around it in small glass vase as center piece.

Lights turned low or even better, multiple candles for light w/ one being a vanilla candle....for "the mood" if you know what I mean.

Soft music or instrumental only in background playing.

You'll score a 10 my friend and can all be done for well under $100 if not even less.
Check this out.

You could fix a nice ceaser salad, have fish, and for the vegetable you could have maybe some corn. Don't forget the strawberries to go with the chocolate fondue. I hope you have a nice time with your friend.

I need help planning a chocolate party?

I am hosting a chocolate party. Since it will take place around Christmas, we are having a grab bag. There will be a chocolate fountain, fondue, and things like that. What i need help with are activities. I'm open to a lot, murder mysteries, scavenger hunts, contests. I have a limeted budget. It will be teens ages 14-18 and it will be cold out... so outdoor things should be limeted.

Anyway, your help with be appreciated! I want this party to be great :)I need help planning a chocolate party?
Give each of your friends a cup of melted chocolate with cookies, pretzels, fruit and a lot of fun stuff to dip. Each of your friend should have a definite work area with wax paper to dry its creations. After they finish, give each of your friend a box with their names written on it and stuff it with all the chocolates they have made. P.S. Make sure you put their treats in the refrigerator and that your guests must get their treats out before leaving the party.

Games/Activities Ideas --

Santa Says - Played like the traditional “Simon Says” game but use Santa instead.

Name That Christmas Song or What Lyrics Are Next? - Play a few seconds of popular Christmas tunes and let guests guess the name of the song. For a different version of this game, play certain lyrics and stop the song at a certain point and let them guess what lyrics come next. The one who guesses any of the right answer, gets a prize.

Colored Ball Ornaments - Get ornaments at craft stores to decorate. Purchase clear glass balls. Get few colors of acrylic paint. Open the top of the ornament. Squeeze a small amount of one color into the opening of the ball. Swirl around to coat the insides. Continue with different or the same colors. When done, reposition cap of the ball. Spray paint the outside of the ornament lightly with spray glue. Sprinkle fine glitter on the outside. Let dry. Tie with a pretty bow.

(For Sleep-over) Guess Who - A blind identification game that involves sleeping-bag swapping. One guest leaves the room, and the others jump into sleeping bags (not their own) and pull them over their heads. The guest reenters the room and lightly touches the bags, trying to guess who is inside.

Guess How Many Jar - Fill and decorate a large jar with chocolate candies, like M%26amp;M's or individually wrapped chocolates. Be sure to count all the pieces first! Let each guest guess how many are in the jar by placing their guess on a small piece of paper. The winner takes home the prize.

Chocolate Puzzle - Buy some identical chocolate bars and use a knife to break each into odd shaped pieces, place the broken bars nto seperate bags and the first person to reassemble their bar wins a prize

Whipped Cream Hidden - Make a large pile of whipped cream with chocolate hidden in it, the girls each have 30 seconds to find as many as they can not using their hands

Chocolate Toss - Have the guests toss chocolates onto targets

Have fun!!!I need help planning a chocolate party?
you could split them up into teams and have them make gingerbread houses. You could also do the game where everyone gets a sticker of a celebrity on their back and people go around and help that person guess their celebrity. you could also do that guessing where they can guess the number of hershey kisses in a jar and whoever wins gets the jar of candy. Hope these ideas helped!!!

  • Ideas for a fondue party?

Having a party of 10 coming over for a fondue party on Saturday. It's gonna be a chocolate fondue party. What's some good foods to dip on that's moderately healthy, it doesn't have to be super healthy just moderately. What's foods I can have other than for fondue, but I want the food to compliment the fondue. It's gonna be a longish party. About 3-4 hours long. So also how do you properly do a chocolate fondue party?

    Summary:

-how do you properly host a chocolate fondue party?

-what's good sides for dipping in the chocolate fondue?

-what's good food that's not dipped in the fondue, but will compliment the chocolate?

The chocolate is gonna be normal sweet chocolateIdeas for a fondue party?
For dipping: pretzel rods, strawberries, large marshmallows, angel food cake, Nutter Butter cookies, and maraschino cherries (take out of the liquid and drain well first).
To complement: I'd say just go with appetizer type foods: finger sandwiches (maybe some w/chicken salad and some w/deli turkey), veggies and dip, Lil' Smokies in bbq sauce, cubes of cheeses: cheddar, pepperjack, and monterey are good, bacon-wrapped water chestnuts, etc.
Make sure each guest has a small plate so the fondue dip doesn't get too messy.
I like frozen or non-frozen pieces of banana dipped in chocolate the best and it's healthy.
I think finger foods like cucumber sandwiches would taste good alongside chocolate. Even better if the cucumbers in the sandwiches were dressed with a kind of sweet and sour dressing, like the dressing used with chopped cucumbers in thai food restaurants. Use toasted bread for this kind of sandwich.Ideas for a fondue party?
Chocolate should obviously be sweet like you said, but I'd mix some dark in, if you're using milk chocolate.

For proper hosting, make sure everyone has their own fondue fork, and then also a small spoon.

I'd provide a mixture of dipping sides. Some people like salty with chocolate, so ritz crackers, potato chips, pretzel rods. Other people like sweet on top of sweet, so vanilla wafers, pound cake, etc. Fruit is obviously a good choice. Strawberries work, orange segmants, dried cherries. Once, I saw grapefruit segments go over like gang-busters.
I had a chocolate fountain at my baby shower. We had all sorts of fruit marshmallows and graham crackers. For the other food we just had finger sandwiches. Is your party going to inside ? If not make sure its not windy because the chocolate will be on everything .Ideas for a fondue party?
Well good dipping food for chocolate is : Strawberries Bananas Angel Cake (plain)
    I know! Have chocolate!
