Does anyone like either cheese or chocolate fondue?

Cheese is a great appetizer before a meal and chocolate is an incredible desert. I prefer White Chocolate vs dark chocolate with various pieces of fruit.Does anyone like either cheese or chocolate fondue?
love both.now you need to try the bourgignone!very thinly sliced-or to your liking ,very fine cut of beef in stripes, you fry in the foundue dish and then dipped in different sauces.like green pepper suace-the spice, bell pepper, wine sauce, mustard sauce....
Do you believe in fondue? I do. Do you?

Fondue is pretty good, just a little challenging and messy for a first time exhibition. :) I like both cheese fondue and chocolate fondue, but not together in the same pot.

I like to dip fruits in my chocolate.Does anyone like either cheese or chocolate fondue?
I lurrrrve both kinds of fondue.

I like making chocolate fondue with dark chocolate toblerones, while I like making cheese fondue with aged cheddar cheese. Mmmm!
Both are awesome.

I have a cheap fondue pot and it's easy to burn the cheese with Sterno, so be careful. I have done both and found it easier to melt the cheese or chocolate on the stove in a pan then transfer it to the fondue pot to keep it hot. If your pot has an adjustable flame, try it as low as it can go. I think electric fondue pots are probably better, but there is something cool about having fire at your table.

Also, try hot oil or broth and cooking shrimp or chunks of beef in it. That makes a good meal, too.

Whichever you decide, find a recipe. Just putting a block of cheese in the pot won't be something you will be able to dip into.Does anyone like either cheese or chocolate fondue?
I have never had chocolate, so I have to say I like everything cheese
chocolate fondue for fuits and cheese for chips maybe
i love both each one is excuesit chees is wonderfull iespecially in the winter and chocklate with fruit

lol it is hard!!!!

What is the difference between making chocolate fondue with milk vs. cream?

1 recipe that i know of says to use 8/10 ounces of bittersweet chocolate with

1/2-3/4 cups of heavy cream

while another says to instead mix the chocolate with

1/2-3/4 cups of milk and 1/2 tsp of butter..

what is the difference between using milk vs cream?

what do you suggest?

thanks! What is the difference between making chocolate fondue with milk vs. cream?
Cream will have more of a richness and a sheen because of the added fat. Similar to a chocolate ganache (truffle).

Milk will be slightly thinner and have less of a sheen.

I like the cream but keep in mind you are also making the dish much more caloric with cream.

What is the difference between making chocolate fondue with milk vs. cream?
LESS FAT IN MILK. So less calories and less guilt.

    Easy chocolate fondue receipe ?

Can i just add a few ' block ' of chocolate ? block as in like bar chocolate, the tiny pieces that link to form a row. then add little evaporated milk ? and serve myself.Easy chocolate fondue receipe ?
That might work... Bar chocolate is fine for fondue. Evaporated milk doesn't have the same properties as cream but it might work. If you have vanilla ice cream try that instead.

Extraordinary (and Simple) Chocolate Fondue Recipe

Recipe Summary - Extraordinary (and Simple) Chocolate Fondue Recipe

    Difficulty: Easy

Ingredients - Extraordinary (and Simple) Chocolate Fondue Recipe

16 ounces dark, sweet or semi-sweet chocolate

    1 1/2 cups light cream

    1 tsp. Vanilla extract

Instructions - Extraordinary (and Simple) Chocolate Fondue Recipe

    1. Break chocolate squares into smaller pieces and drop them into the fondue pot.

    2. Add cream (which will prevent the chocolate from going lumpy) and stir gently but constantly until the chocolate is melted and smooth.

    3. Add vanilla extract, and stir it in.

    4. Use a fondue fork to spear the fruit, then dip it in the chocolate. Enjoy!

For some other variations on a basic chocolate fondue recipe, add:

    - some chopped nuts: pecans, almonds, walnuts, and hazelnuts all work well.

    - a tablespoon of instant coffee granules or cappuccino

    - your favorite syrup flavor

When making chocolate fondue do you melt the chocolate in the fondue pot or in a seperate pot then pour it in?

I have a fondue pot that uses an alcohol burner to heat the sauce. When making chocolate fondue do you melt the chocolate in the fondue pot or in a seperate pot then pour it in?
Either way, but make sure to do "double boiler" to melt chocolate. You can't make it smooth it you heat the chocolate on direct heat.

I'd put chocolat in the fondue pot with some heavy cream and butter and heat this double boiler on the kichen range until it's completely melted and stir until smooth, maybe add some cognac, and the alcohol burner, I'd use it maybe just to keep it warm on the table.
the fondue pot is suposed to be hot so that the chocolat can melt, so there no need to dirt dishes!:-)When making chocolate fondue do you melt the chocolate in the fondue pot or in a seperate pot then pour it in?
You can melt it in there if you are certain it is one for chocolate. It has to have a seperate section to put water in. If it is just one, then you cannot do chocolate because it will scorch.
You *can* melt it in the fondue pot, but I probably wouldn't. Not because it's dangerous or anything, but because there's only so much alcohol in each burner, and I don't want to waste half of it getting the chocolate to melt, when I can do that in the freakin' microwave if I'm careful.

Also, don't forget there's more to chocolate fondue than just melting chocolate. You need some heavy cream in there too! When making chocolate fondue do you melt the chocolate in the fondue pot or in a seperate pot then pour it in?
Hmmm... I;ve only ever used those small crock pots, and usually I just put the chocolate right in the pot and let it melt in there. yum... fondue sounds good... i think I'll go get some chocolate...
You should either melt it in a double boiler or the microwave because you don't want the chocolate to burn. Then add it to the fondue pot.
I make my chocolate fondue in my crockpot. Melt the chocolate and add a dash of Grand Marnier (or orange extract) and a little cream. Pretty tasty stuff.

  • Melt chocolate fondue without a stove?

I have a ceramic chocolate fondue pot, the kind heated with a single tea-light. I am giving my boyfriend a surprise picnic for our anniversary, and won't be able to simply melt it on the stovetop first.

I won't go into a lot of detail, but will it be possible, do you think, to simply break up a few hunks of chocolate in the dish and count on them to melt properly? I can't make it in advance.

Thanks!Melt chocolate fondue without a stove?
The smaller the pieces of chocolate, the easier it will melt. It's also easy to melt in a microwave....it doesn't sound like that will work though.

Good luck!Melt chocolate fondue without a stove?
start off with chocolate chips, if not then break the choc. up into as small pieces as possible. put the bowl into a microwave oven and time for one minute. remove and stir. repeat with 45 sec. remove and stir, repeat with 30 seconds, remove and stir, when melted enough put over the fondue pot flame and melt to the desired consistency. you have to do this slowly or the choc. will surely burn.

THE SAN FRANCISCO CHEFMelt chocolate fondue without a stove?
it is going to take alot more heat than a tiny tea light will provide. You need one of those sterno cans that provide a good amount of heat for a long time in order to melt your chocolate. but yes breaking it up into smaller pieces will help it to melt better.

I'm making a chocolate fondue for my boyfriend for our anniversary - suggestions for unusual things to dip??

I've got a whole list of all the usual things like fruit, cake, marshmallows, cookies, and a few others but I'm after some really creative and unusual stuff that we could dip. Also I was planning on stirring in some Amaretto and finely chopped almonds but if anyone has any other suggestions for things to put in the actual fondue that would be great! Also any general tips for making fondue!! Thanks!I'm making a chocolate fondue for my boyfriend for our anniversary - suggestions for unusual things to dip??
pineapple is the best dipped in chocolate
ohhhhhhhh if only i could tell..I'm making a chocolate fondue for my boyfriend for our anniversary - suggestions for unusual things to dip??
Savoury stuff actually works really well, although doesn't sound as if it would. Try carrot sliced lengthways and raw peppers. And definitely strawberries and pieces of fruit, that goes without saying - you can't do a fondue without strawberries...

Mmm... making me hungry, can I come too?
Dried grasshoppers. That would be very unusual.I'm making a chocolate fondue for my boyfriend for our anniversary - suggestions for unusual things to dip??
get some jack daniels fudge, warm it slightly in your microwave, the chocolate stays soft, and with a hint of that jd flavour, he'll be, erm weak at the knees ;-)
    Crystalised ginger is nice.

    Sliced up fingers of toast.

    Malt loaf.

Wine gums or othey chewy sweets and candy

Of course body parts and warm chocolate make a wonderful sexy combo.
You'll need to add some double cream to the chocolate to make it more liquid, don't use just chocolate. And make sure you get the darkest, bitterest chocolate you can. It tastes different once it's melted and mixed with stuff - melted milk chocolate will be vile in a fondue.

Stirring in a liqueur of some sort is a good idea - it can make the taste very strong though, so only add a tiny bit at a time.

And I say stick to fruits and marshmallows etc, because "unusual" things to dip (apart from fingers and body parts) are usually unusual for a reason (ie, they're not very nice).
I don't want to give a vary naughty answer.... Think for yourself what you can dip n lick that would make both of u happy... ;-)
chunks of banana, cake or doughnut chunks would be good (thats what we have with our usual fruit) and cherries off the stem are amazing too.
Pretzels are yummy! The salt of the pretzel and the sweetness of the chocolate...mmmmm!!!

You can make fondue with chopped Toblerone chocolate bars. It is very good.
    Strawberries, cubed spongecake, graham crackers
I would suggest yourselves ........ make sure the chocolate has cooled somewhat before you stick anything delicate in ..... makes for a very intersting evening and chocolate chips off clothes when cold anyway .....

    HAPPY ANNIVERSAY xxxxxxxxx
Make up lots of different little dishes so a choice can be made and a change of flavour. Have sweet things, sharp tastes, soft and firm textures. Add some double cream to the fondue to get a super flavour. Some grated ginger gives a rather pleasant taste to the majority of dips.
    use his favorite dip
    OOH, MATRON!
What about pretzels, shortbread cookie, oreo's, banana chips, Lay's plain potato chips, or candied orange peel. You can buy candied orange peel or find a recipe for it on www.foodtv.com . Instead of Amaretto....why don't you just make a white chocolate fondue %26amp; a dark choc. You could even do a peanut butter choc. one.
Make some mini profiteroles, whipped cream has more uses than eating!! Strawberries are romantic too.

If you like hot things then chillis are nice (mild ones though!) and dried fruit like mango slices and apples rings make a change. Just plain breadsticks are nice too (kind of like Choc Dips) and ice-cream balls (ball with a melon baller, put on a cold plate, stick cocktail sticks in each one and freeze til you want them)- the chocolate would go hard when you dip them.

As for the fondue, remember when you're melting chocolate that even a drop of cold water will make the chocolate seize- it will go grainy and be ruined. A little bit of hot water and butter will make it thick and glossy (but it won't set). Melt chocolate as slowly and gently as you can. Also, without wishing to insult you, get a good quality chocolate because it will stand up better to melting- a darker one is better. Green and Black's dark milk would be great. Enjoy!

    strawberries ,pineapple

    or sponge fingers pretzels etc
dip chunks of chocolate in it . try the fruit called phsayllis . lollypops are nice dipped in chocolate.
Here is a quick simple fondue recipe:

1 pound of premium semisweet or bittersweet chocolate, well chopped

1 1/2 cups of heavy cream

    1 tsp. vanilla extract

Set aside the chopped chocolate. Pour the cream into a medium, thick-bottomed saucepan (or double boiler if you have one) over low heat. Bring the cream to a simmer and add the chocolate. Stir until the chocolate is melted. Remove from heat, stir in vanilla. Transfer the chocolate to a fondue pot and enjoy.

You can use regular milk instead of heavy cream, if you like, if you just add a couple of Tbls. of unsalted butter.

If you're already adding amaretto %26amp; almonds, that's probably enough add-ins. If you had 2 or 3 separate pots, you could make different flavors. mint chocolate is good. expresso powder and rum, frangelico is really good (I like it better than amaretto) or Grand marnier for an orange chocolate.

For dippables that are not run of the mill, consider:

    frozen twinkies

    Crunchy Biscotti

little brownie bites that you could skewer with toothpicks

    little rice krispie treat bites

    Fresh flaky Croissants

    caramels

mini cream puffs (if you have a Sam's near you--they sell them)

lady fingers or sugar wafer cookies

    Happy Anniversary!

Oh you have got to be joking are you having a laugh lol
Amaretto biscuits are divine, and make some florentine biscuits to dip ! croissants work too!

    Ghirardelli is very good.
You don't need chocolate over 70% cocoa. In fact, most people don't like even like the taste near that percentage, but you can be sure it will flow very well. As long as you use chocolate that has 45% or more(dark chocolate), you don't need oil, and it will still have a sweet taste to it.

  • Is chocolate fondue made with liqueur safe for pregnant women?

I'm trying to figure out if I can eat the various desserts at the Melting Pot. They offer chocolate mixed with Amaretto and Baileys. Since it's heated thoroughly, is the alcohol burned off?Is chocolate fondue made with liqueur safe for pregnant women?
i really depends on how high the alcohol content is. If it is a very small amount I wouldn't worry about it because most of it will cook out anyway, but to be safe I would ask the waiter or chef. It should be fine because usually it is just the flavor the chef desires so they let the alchohol cook out. The chef or waiter would know so that's who I would ask.Is chocolate fondue made with liqueur safe for pregnant women?
It would have to come to an actual boil for the liquor to burn off completely. The amount in a whole batch may be insignificant though, you'll have to ask them.Is chocolate fondue made with liqueur safe for pregnant women?
It's fine as long as you don't gulp down the entire pot of chocolate!

Is it safe to use Nutella in my Chocolate Fondue Fountain? If so, how?

I've seen a Nutella Fondue recipe online, but am not sure if I could use the recipe in my fondue fountain. Has anyone tried using nutella with the fountain? If so, what's the best way to prepare/use?Is it safe to use Nutella in my Chocolate Fondue Fountain? If so, how?
Nutella is not much different from the chocolate we normally put in a chocolate fountain. Normally, the fountain calls for a significant amount of oil. In the case of Nutella, you would use very little, as it will not harden like chocolate chips. Since chocolate fountains need so much chocolate, you will need several jars of Nutella to compensate. Good luck! It sounds delicious...I think I will try using Nutella in my chocolate fountain.
Try melting it in a pot on the stove and look at it's consistancy. I think it will be too thick to run through the fountain, but you can use it in a regular fondue pot.Is it safe to use Nutella in my Chocolate Fondue Fountain? If so, how?

When using a chocolate fondue fountain would i need some kinds of oil with the melted chocolate?

and how should i melt the chocolate chips? When using a chocolate fondue fountain would i need some kinds of oil with the melted chocolate?
Using regular cooking oil can be iffy. If the temperature is not right, it can separate. It can also taste oily. I would recommend buy a pre-hydrogenated chocolate. If you live near a Smart and Final they carry Fountain chocolate for a reasonable price. I get two bags and it last through a 6 hour 100+ person lobster party we throw every year.

marshmallows and fudge cubes work really well, also you could just use some quite plain biscuits like rich teas or ginger nuts.

this might sound strange, but once at a sleepover we had loads of snacks out, including chocolate fondue, and everyone started dipping popcorn in, its divine! it tastes alright with sweetened popcorn, but better if you just use plain unflavoured home-popped stuff. yummy! :)
We had two chocolate fountains running at my daughter's wedding.

Banana and marshmallows were what we went through the most of. We could not keep those sections of the serving trays full.

the best way is to put some lemon or lime juice on them when you cut them, and cut them at the last possible moment.

some good things to dip in are: strawberries - leave the stalks on, kiwi fruit - sliced up, grapes, lychees, berries, etc.

some other things which would be nice apart from fruit - shortbread, doughnuts - sliced up, biscuits, brioche, marshmallows, brownies, cookies, biscotti etc.

hope it goes well - and remember the lemon juice = ] x

They have the small fondue pots and even the small chocolate fountains. The problem with the both of these are that they need to be plugged in. Using tea lights will cause the chocolate to burn. I know melted chocolate is more appealing, but maybe if you did something like a ganache that holds heat a little better and is still edible as it cools

    Cheese or Chocolate fondue?

I received 2 fondue pots and I wanted to do chocolate in one and cheese in the other. Any cheese fondue recipes you'd care to share? And what's the best bread to use?Cheese or Chocolate fondue?
Use french bread cubes for dipping. Here's a traditional but easy recipe for cheese fondue:

    CHEESE FONDUE

    1 tbsp. butter

    4 oz. Gruyere-Emmenthale cheese

    1 c. dry white wine

    1 tbsp. flour

    Pinch of cayenne

    Pinch of nutmeg

    4 tbsp. kirsch

Melt together in a saucepan on the top of the stove. Rub inside of fondue pot with a cut clove of garlic, then transfer cheese mixture into it and keep heated.

    Here's a chocolate fondue recipe:

    CHOCOLATE FONDUE

    1 c. sugar

    3/4 c. unsweetened cocoa

    1/3 c. water

    1 c. milk

1 (14 oz.) can sweetened condensed milk

    1/4 c. butter

    1 tsp. vanilla

2 tbsp. liqueur (Creme de Menthe, Grand Marnier, Kahlua, etc)

Combine sugar and cocoa in heavy 3 quart saucepan, blend in water and stir in both milks and butter. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until begins to boil. Remove from heat, add vanilla and liqueur, pour into fondue pot and use low Sterno flame to prevent scorching. Makes 3 1/4 cup sauce.

For dipping, use pieces of apple, pear, peach, banana, strawberries, pineapple chunks, marshmallows or pound cake. Arrange on serving platter.

i would make sure i had some fruit for the chocolate

and some veggies for the cheese

i dont know, but i have always wanted a fondue pot....good luck with it!
For a chocolate fondue, here are some great dippers:

Marshmallows, cherries (w/stems) pineapple chunks, oreos, Graham crackers, nutter butter, Frozen Pound cake, bananas, strawberries, blackberries or pretzels!

Don't forget a little heavy cream and a splash of liquor!
Make a basic white sauce in a saucepan on the stove. When finished transfer to your fondue pot and add as much or as little of shredded cheese as you like. You are pretty much free to do what you want...choose any cheese you like. Adding chopped chives or sliced green onion adds an additional 'yum factor'. Stir to combine and melt the cheese. Your fondue is ready to go.

This recipe is extremely simple and cheap to make...not to mention delicious. I would serve it with sourdough or something equally nice and crusty like french bread.

As far as chocolate goes...I have only ever broken up a large chocolate bar and added 2 tbsp. of butter and a dash of cinnamon to get it going in the pot. Oey goey and yummy.
    Both are quite good.

  • How to convert organic chocolate bars to fondue chocolate?

I want to make some fondue chocolate from organic chocolate bars, but it turns lumpy not silky. What should I add to make it fondue fountain ready? How to convert organic chocolate bars to fondue chocolate?
The reason it's getting lumpy is that you've burned the sugar in the chocolate. This can happen with any kind of chocolate.

As mentioned before, the double boiler method is pretty good, just be careful not to get any water into the chocolate as it will clump in a different but still unpleasant way. Be sure to keep the water underneath very low, not boiling.

The second way, as seen on Good Eats with Alton Brown, is to put the chocolate in a glass or other heatsafe bowl and put it on a heating pad. It will take a while to melt but will melt at such a low temperature it won't lose its "temper" so it will still be shiny when it cools again if you're dipping fruits for serving.

The third way is to do it in the microwave. But be very careful. Put it in for only 30 seconds at a time (use the defrost setting if you have it). Take it out, stir, then put it back in. Once it's all melted it's pretty easy to keep silky. But again, burning the sugar in the chocolate is exceptionally easy and there's no way to rescue it once you've done that.

As for what to add to make it fondue or fountain ready, most people find a tablespoon of canola or other light cooking oil per pound works well. It's not so much that it will make it feel greasy on the tongue. Be warned that it won't make very good chocolate bars after that. (Though you can take the leftovers and mix them in with raisins, nuts and pretzels for a tasty bark.)
    Melt it.

add butter and milk and keep it moving via stirring. How to convert organic chocolate bars to fondue chocolate?

    melt it i guess
    fondue fountains require oil (yuck)

if you want smooth chocolate add a little milk and melt over double boiler
    Melt them over low heat.
Use a double boiler, or a two pan arrangement, to melt it slowly and evenly. If it still turns lumpy, try gently stirring it with a little milk or cream as it melts.
u shud add a bit of vege oil (sunds horrible but u cant taste it and it makes chocy fountains really easy to clean)

    trust me it works
Organic chocolate bars are no different than non-organic ones, unless they contain some sort of additive. However, the temperature at which you melt chocolate bars can determine whether it comes out lumpy or silky. Maybe it's getting too hot, or not hot enough. I've always used a double boiler to melt chocolate. They aren't too common nowadays, but consisted of a smaller pot within a larger one. The bottom pot would be filled with water that's heated, and the smaller pot would contain the chocolate. In that way, the chocolate would melt without scorching or changing consistency. If you don't have a double boiler or have never heard of one, just take a bigger pot and nestle in a smaller one. It will work the same way. If all else fails, try the microwave, but you may have to experiment to see how long to leave it in. I'd suggest maybe 30 seconds to start out with. If your results with organic bars are less than satisfactory, then I'd suggest using regular, non-organic chocolate, such as Hershey's or Nestles, either the bars or chocolate chips. Good luck!
When melting add a few tablespoons of organic vegetable oil.

Make sure you use a whisk to break up the lumps.

    Chocolate Fondue

    1 pound dark chocolate

    1 pound milk chocolate

    1 pound white chocolate

    3/4 cup heavy cream

    6 ounces Grand Marnier

Chop each of the chocolate into small pieces, separately. Place each type of chocolate in its own fondue pot. Turn the pot setting to medium or 5. In a saucepan, heat the cream and Grand Marnier. When the cream comes to a simmer, remove from the heat and pour 1/3 over each type of chocolate. Whisk each pot until smooth. Serve the fondue with the garnishes.

    GARNISHES FOR CHOCOLATE FONDUE

    1 Pound Cake, sliced

    1 Angel Food Cake, sliced

    1/2 pint strawberries

    2 bananas, sliced

    1 dozen coconut macaroons

This is my favorite fondue, you should try it!

    Chocolate and coconut cream fodue

1 (15 ounce) can sweetened cream of coconut (such as Coco Lopez)

12 ounces bittersweet (not unsweetened) or semisweet chocolate, finely chopped

    1/4 cup whipping cream

    1/4 teaspoon coconut extract

Combine sweetened cream of coconut and 12 ounces chocolate in heavy large saucepan. Stir mixture over very low heat until chocolate melts and mixture is smooth. Stir in whipping cream and extract. (Fondue can be prepared 8 hours ahead. Cover; store at room temperature. Stir over low heat to rewarm before serving.)

Transfer mixture to fondue pot. Place over candle or canned heat burner. Serve with fruit for dipping.

    Yield: 8 servings

Biscotti would be great for dipping, too.

Assorted fresh fruit (such as whole strawberries, 1-inch-thick slices banana, 1-inch cubes peeled cored pineapple, and tangerine segments)

    This is a easier recipe:

    Easy Chocolate Fondue

    24 ounces semisweet chocolate chips

    1-1/4 C. evaporated milk

    1/4 C. sugar

    2 t. vanilla extract

    1 T. fruit flavored liqueur

Place ingredients in cooker. Cover and cook on high 30 minutes. Stir well, cover and cook on low 1 hour longer. Dip pieces of pound cake, fruit, pretzels, cookies or marshmallows into chocolate mixture. Makes 3 cups
You can use a double-boiler or create your own. Simply use two pots of different sizes. The larger one will have about 1 inch (2.5 cm) of water in it, and the smaller one will contain your chocolate.

Heat up the water and keep stirring the chocolate while it melts. Once it's ready, transfer to your fondue pot with a small tealight. Although the heat from the tealight isn't as hot as a cheese or meat fondue burner, you still need to keep stirring it or it will start burning right above the flame. How do you melt chocolate for fondue?
ok. there are two ways of melthing them.

one is place the chips at the microwave oven and heat up for a couple of minutes but not burn. the other one is place a small pan of water and place the bowl of chips on top of it and simmer. stirr it regularly avoid sticking or burn until thick liquid. then pour in the whipping/ double cream and stirr it until creamy chocolate texture. (opt) to include vanilla mixture.

the other one way is you place the chocolate chips at the a heated-proof bowl and set aside. heat up the cream and vanilla (depends on the types of chocolate u are using). when hot, pour some over the chocolate chips and stirr. you can add the mixture depends on how thickens the fondue you want.

then when serving, place them on the small fire and serve. if not, when cooled, the chocolate is harden, then you will get tuffle not fondue.

actually fondue and ganache has the same procedures.
you have to have a double boiler (smaller pan insine a larger pan) put some water inside the larger pan, not too much you don't want to get water in the smaller pan, put chocolate in smaller pan heat untill melted, you can also buy double boilers but this should workHow do you melt chocolate for fondue?
you need two pots, one big, one small, put the chocolate in the small pot, boil water in the big pot, now set the small pot into the big pot, this will melt the chocolate without burning it.

There are a lot of different types of chocolate fondue. You could just go with the basic melted chocolate, or a combination of different ingredients to make up a nice fondue. I made one over the new year that was really yummy. I got the recipe from http://www.chocolate-candy-mall.com/choc鈥?/a>

Of course, I just used a regular fondue pot, not a fountain. There may be limits to what ingredients can go through those. If you have the instruction booklet, double check.

You can use any form of chocolate you like, I like to use blocks or the ones shaped like discs, they are specifically designed for melting evenly. I suggest to get a good dark chocolate with a high cocoa percentage. This will go the best with most of the things you will want to be dipping in it.

    Double Chocolate Fondue

1/2 ounces milk chocolate, finely chopped

10 1/2 ounces semisweet chocolate, finely chopped

    1 1/4 cups heavy cream

    48 marshmallows

    Chocolate and Coconut Cream Fondue

1 (15 ounce) can sweetened cream of coconut (such as Coco Lopez)

12 ounces bittersweet (not unsweetened) or semisweet chocolate, finely chopped

    1/4 cup whipping cream

    1/4 teaspoon coconut extract

    Mean Chef's Chocolate Fondue

10 ounces bittersweet chocolate or semisweet chocolate, chopped into small pieces

1/2-3/4 cup milk or half-and-half or heavy cream (or 1/2 to 3/4 cup milk plus 2 tablespoons unsalted butter)

    1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

To make the sauce, in a small bowl, combine the chocolate and 1/2 cup milk or cream and melt gently in a barely simmering water bath or microwave on Medium (50 percent) power for about 2 minutes.

    Stir until smooth.

Add more liquid if the sauce seems too thick or look curdled.

Remove from the heat and stir in the vanilla.

Use warm fondue immediately or set aside until needed and rewarm briefly.

Have forks, skewers, or pretty (or goofy) swizzle sticks available for guests to dip with.

If the fondue gets too thick or cool, reheat gently (without boiling) for 1 minute in the microwave on Medium (50percent) power or set in a pan of barely simmering water.

Leftover sauce keeps several days in the refrigerator.

It is a prefect topping for ice cream.

Note: This is a versatile recipe that can be tailored to your taste and the type of chocolate you are using.

For the most intense chocolate fondue, use milk, rather than half-and-half or cream, and omit the butter.

For even greater intensity, choose a bittersweet chocolate labeled anywhere from 66 percent to 70 percent and use the greater amount of liquid called for.

Butter or cream results in a softer, mellower chocolate flavor.

Ideas for dipping: Kumquats or segments of seedless clementines, oranges, or ruby grapefruit- If possible, separate the citrus into segments without breaking the membrane.

If you set the segments on a rack to dry in a warm place or in the oven, preheated to 200掳 F, then turned off for several hours, the membrane will dry like crisp paper and the juices will burst in your mouth when you take a bite.

Chunks of pineapple Chunks of fresh coconut or large curls of dried coconut Chunks of banana Dried fruit such as apricot, mango, papaya, pineapple, or Bing cherries Strips of good-quality candied orange, grapefruit or lemon peel

Cubes of pound cake or angel food cake, or toasted cubes of brioche or challah Cigarette cookies, fan wafers, graham crackers or digestive biscuits, or pretzels Marshmallows or meringues Toasted shaved almonds (to sprinkle on after dipping).

I like melted chocolate with sourdough bread chunks. The sourness of the bread, the sweetness of the chocolate fondue ... opposite attracts. How about cooking up pasta with chocolate sauce/fondue?

It be a much more wilder if you help slather chocolate fondue onto your friends and lick each other ... yet that is just one of my fantasy.
Oranges do work; cherries work. You don't want fruit that will leak juice; soft dried apricots are the bomb. So are dried plums and dried cherries.

Big roasted nuts -- whole cashews, walnut and pecan halves -- are good too. Peanuts and raisins, while tasty, are too easy to lose in the pot.
fondue party? That is so seventies
I think that you will have to have something to break the taste of all of that chocolate and rich flavours. How about ice cream or a nice custard..........or even yogurt as a base for the richer flavours. Simple homemade cookies could be good too. They could be a base for the chocolate dipped fruit..like a mini sweet pizza.
Some French bread and soft cheeses for some other choice besides chocolate fondue items. And a good Bordeaux for a dessert wine. Have fun.
This really sounds good but I do have one suggestion. You need something to wash all this good food down with. Maybe milk or chocolate milk if you really want to push it.

What kind of chocolate i can use for fondue?

this is my first time to try the chocolate fondue i don't have any idea what kind of chocolate i need to use. can i use regular choclate dairy milk kind off please tell me what to do. and how i can make itWhat kind of chocolate i can use for fondue?
Milk chocolate, dark chocolate, Swiss chocolate, white chocolate... ANY KIND OF CHOCOLATE! It doesn't matter, whatever tastes or sounds good to you!
I make chocolate fondue all of the time and I use a bag of milk chocolate chips, and half of a little container of whipping cream ( can find by the milk and half and half at the store ) also, if I am using them with my fondue, I throw in about 4 marshmallows until melted. What kind of chocolate i can use for fondue?
i use (semi-sweet) 2 (227g each) Rogers' Chocolates Dark Baking Blocks, 35% whipping cream and 1 tsp of mocha coffee
it doesn't really matter but here is one recipe:

12 ounces of dark chocolate (chips or roughly chopped if from a block)

    8 ounces of heavy cream

    A pinch of salt

Dippables such as strawberries, banana pieces cut into 1-inch chunks, dried appricots, candied ginger, apple pieces

1 Warm the cream over moderate heat until tiny bubbles show and begins to lightly and slowly boil. Add the chocolate and whisk until smooth and full incorporated.

2 Immediately transfer to a fondue pot heated at low or with a low flame, or serve straight from the pot.

3 Arrange the dippables on a platter or plates around the chocolate pot. Use a fondue fork, bamboo skewer, seafood fork, or salad fork to dip the fruit pieces and other dippables into the hot melted cream chocolate mixture. Eat immediately.

If the fondue begins to feel a little stiff, add a tablespoon of heavy cream and stir. It will help it go a little longer. Eventually, it will cook down though and you may need to start a new pot.

    Variations

Add a tablespoon or two of Bailey's Irish Cream to the chocolate. Other liquors such as Grand Mariner, Amaretto, or Kirsch are equally yummy.

Add a 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon and ancho chili pepper for a nice Mexican Chocolate.

The contents of a vanilla pod or some vanilla extract are always a decadent touch to chocolate.

A good pinch of espresso powder can do wonders!

Orange zest or grapefruit zest is nice way to create a slightly fruity chocolate.

A few tablespoons of Torani flavoring syrups (the kind used for coffee or Italian sodas) can add a nice dimension of flavor as well.

White chocolate is always a nice change, and spiked with a little liquor or citrus zest becomes heavenly.

Steeping the cream for an hour beforehand and while heating it can add a nice subtle flavor, lemongrass for white chocolate or a bag of Earl Grey tea for dark chocolate are particularly stylish and contemporary. What kind of chocolate i can use for fondue?

Have You Used a Chocolate Fondue Fountain Before?

Im thinking about renting a chocolate fondue fountain for my wedding. Im not too sure about how the set up, clean up, chocolate running out...etc.,

Has anyone ever rented one before? Are they easy to set up? Would you recommend it? Please share your detail. -Thanks.Have You Used a Chocolate Fondue Fountain Before?
Chocolate fountains are great, and may seem a lot simpler than just having cake, but there are a few pitfalls to having them at a large party such as a reception. Set-up is generally pretty easy, but clean-up is really messy. Speaking of messy, guests can easily drip chocolate on themselves or on the linens, which can definitely be a problem. Also, there is also a potential for people to drop pieces into the chocolate, which can jam up the machine. Also, if you are having a reception outdoors, do not use this fountain; imagine chocolate blowing all over everything with the wind!

At my grandfather's second wedding, they actually had a person that was specifically there to man the fountain the whole reception to ensure that the fountain ran smoothly, but I have also been to receptions without a person there.

If you are dead set on having one, you will need to make sure you have about 8-10 pieces for each person if it is the only dessert you are serving. About 20 pounds of chocolate is recommended for 200 guests, so you can adjust accordingly. Get a chocolate that has a high fat ratio, like a Belgian dark chocolate, because you can melt it easily and it will flow really well. Milk chocolates and chocolate chips that are melted tend to require cocoa butter or oil added to make them flow more easily. The chocolate fountain will not melt the chocolate; it will just keep it warm. You must make sure to melt it at the time and not pre-melt it; otherwise, your chocolate won't taste the same. You can use a double boiler or a microwave. Just make sure if you do burn some of the chocolate that you discard all of it.

Make sure you don't use things that are crumbly, as crumbs don't look good in a chocolate fountain! Make things bite size so that no one double-dips also. Some good things you can use for dipping are:

Fruits: strawberries, mandarin oranges, kiwis, grapes, cherries (not maraschino), raspberries, blackberries, melon chunks

Don't use bananas because they look disgusting after sitting out for a while.

Oreos, biscottis, mini brownies or rice krispy treats, lady fingers, angel food cake, pound cake, any kind of cookie, marshmallows, caramels, pretzel sticks, nut clusters or peanut brittle, or macaroons all work great.

Also, make sure you use long skewers like bamboo skewers and not toothpicks. They are too short and lead people to drop them more easily! You can also have a ladle so that people can just scoop chocolate from the bottom. If you choose to do that, you can use a softer cake or something like small hardened ice cream balls or cheesecake bites.

    I hope this helped!
Do not do a do it your self, rent it from a place that advertises their chocolate fountains because most places have an attendant that comes with it. I had one for my wedding, and my brother in turn had one for his right after. They can be messy but if there is an attendant, they ensure that the station remains attractive for the entire time. I would highly recommend it. Make certain to have a variety of dippers. I know at my wedding the rice krispie treats and the strawberries were the biggest hit, at my brother it was lady fingers. Be certain that in your reception that you have plenty of room for this station, as people like to partake and watch. I had a great experience with it, and the family still talks about it, even though they have become very popular.Have You Used a Chocolate Fondue Fountain Before?
I have, I used to be a server for a catering company. We did a Christmas party with a large chocolate fountain. It looks pretty and looks delicious, but it was a huge PIA. Setting it up took like four of us to figure it out, getting the chocolate right, even dipping the fruit and stuff in it was a mess. And the clean up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh my gosh! Unless you find someone who is an expert at it, and you don't have to mess with it yourself, I would never use one again. It was really messy to eat from too.
Like the first poster said, if you're going to do it, do it with someone else who's not someone who will get distracted by the other festivities handling it. AKA hire someone with the fountain. Setup is a pain, the amount of chocolate to get it to work properly is much more than you'd expect, and people just seem to lose common sense completely when they can play in running chocolate.Have You Used a Chocolate Fondue Fountain Before?
My cousin rented one for her wedding, and it was a huge hit! The only thing is, be very, very careful with chocolate near that wedding gown!

Anybody know any good chocolate fondue places in the Los Angeles area?

A place that serves chocolate fondue. Haha.

Thanks for the help!Anybody know any good chocolate fondue places in the Los Angeles area?
The Melting Pot. It's a small chain located all over town in the upper-middle to upper class areas. I believe it's also nationwide. The entire meal is cooked by you in fondue pots. They will let you order only dessert. I should warn you that the prices are a bit steep but the desserts are to die for. They do have a handful of 3+ course combinations that give you a bit of a price break. zAnybody know any good chocolate fondue places in the Los Angeles area?

  • Favorite chocolate fondue at The Melting Pot?

I'm going to The Melting Pot tonight for dessert. It's my first time going there, so I was wondering what chocolate fondue is the best. I personally am not a fan of white chocolate or marshmallow, and I know they make a few with those ingredients. But of the others, which is your favorite? I also looove Reese's peanut butter cups, does their Original recipe taste like them?

Oh, and I heard they keep giving you as many dippers as you want, but you don't pay extra for more dippers. Is that true?Favorite chocolate fondue at The Melting Pot?
Great Place to eat!! (2 in Charlotte, NC)

White chocolate on all that fruit... what else?? hehe

    Yummmmmmmmm
Yes! Their original is amazing! I hate chocolate and peanut butter together unless it is a Reese's and now their fondue of course. I know they give you more dippers for birthday parties and such, but I do believe you have to pay per plate. If it is just you going, perhaps you should get the dessert for two and have both plates all to yourself yum!Favorite chocolate fondue at The Melting Pot?
You don't get extra desert dippers without paying for them but you do get bottomless veggies, also, my daughter's fav is the the flaming turtle. Have fun.
I went there once and it was sooooooooo good. I can't remember the different fondues. I know we had the peanutbutter chocolate. They give you fruit, marshmellows, pound cake and pretzels.Favorite chocolate fondue at The Melting Pot?

    Flaming Turtle Chocolate Fondue

From Melting Pot Restaurants, for About.com

    Ingredients:

    1/4 cup milk

    1/2 cup milk chocolate

    1/4 cup caramel syrup

    2 Tbsp pecans, chopped

2 Tbsp rum, 151-proof for flamb茅

    .

    For the Dipping Basket:

Fruit, cut (strawberries, bananas and pineapple)

    Marshmallows

Cake, cubed (pound cake and cheesecake)

    Preparation:

Soften milk chocolate in the microwave. Heat milk in the fondue pot. Once it's hot, add softened chocolate. Stir until you have a smooth consistency. Pour caramel into a pool in the middle of the chocolate. When it's time to serve, pour the rum over the top of the chocolate. Leave a small amount on the spoon to ignite with a lighter. Use flaming spoon to ignite the rum on the chocolate. Add the chopped pecans to the chocolate. Allow the flame to burn out.

Note: All dipping items should be skewered and dipped in the chocolate. Be careful as you reach the sides and bottom of the fondue pot; the chocolate tends to be hotter there.

    Yield: 2 servings

Can somebody please give me directions on making Chocolate fondue??

I don't have a fondue maker. . I will buy one before Valentine's is there a certain one to buy?? What kind of chocolate do I buy?? And do I melt the chocolate before and then pour it into the pot? Or do i melt it in the fondue pot? Is there anything i have to add to the chocolate? Can somebody please give me directions on making Chocolate fondue??
You don't have to have a fondue pot, but it does look nice on the table. If you melt chocolate on the stove, just make sure it is not in a pot directly on the burner. Fill a larger pot about 1/2 full with water then place a smaller pot or stainless steel bowl with the chocolate in it over the larger pot so that it touches the water. Heating over water makes sure that the chocolate won't burn. Add whatever extract you like. I like pure vanilla extract with dark chocolate. A little extract goes a long way. You can dip strawberries, pretzels, sponge cake, marshmallows, or whatever you like. Can somebody please give me directions on making Chocolate fondue??

Strawberries and pound cake or angel food cake. Also, there are smore's flavored totrtilla chips that would be cheap yet tasty.
Strawberries, chunks of banana or pineapple, pieces of poundcake, cheesecake bites, macaroon cookies, chunks of brownie - all good choices with the white chocolateWhat is best to go with white chocolate fondue at my wedding?
Fruit like strawberriesand bananas. Maybe thin almond biscotti cookies. Or cranberry finger cookies. Congratulations and have a happy marriage!
You are right, I'd recommend strawberries. Other fruit is good, too. What about dried fruit?

Yes, you could do cookies, if you thought that would be better. Maybe something like an oreo or the chocolate covered graham crackers (then they'd have two types of chocolate on them!). Or, you could do just plain graham crackers and have them dipped in the white chocolate.

My suggestion: cut back on another budget and go with the strawberries and/or other fruit.
fruit would be good, especiallyystrawberry'ss andCherry'ss. a cheaper way of doing fruit is buying it frozen and having 'iced' fruit to dip. also chocolates work well, get cheap truffles and dip them in the white chocolate.

Shortbread is one of my favorite dippers. Also pound cake or angel food cake. I think little puff pastry straws would also be good. Hope you have a great wedding. Congrats.
pretzels would go PERFECT with the white chocolate and be very inexpensive.

Maybe you could do a few Strawberrys and when they are gone - you'll just have the pretzels left ;)

Or maybe have Strawberrys out just for the Wedding Party.

  • How do you clean a nostalgia electrics chocolate fondue fountain?

I borrowed a Nostalgia Electrics chocolate fondue fountain for a party and I would like to clean it before returning it but can not figure out how to take it apart. Can anybody help me with this? It has a stainless steel base and the fountain parts are plastic. I believe there is one black spinning deal in the middle that needs to come out to be cleaned. Any help with this would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. How do you clean a nostalgia electrics chocolate fondue fountain?
You can try looking on their website: http://www.nostalgiaelectrics.com/defaul鈥?/a>

Or ask the people you borrowed it from. I have a popcorn popper from that company but I've never had to clean it other than just wiping it off with a towel. How do you clean a nostalgia electrics chocolate fondue fountain?

What chocolate fondue should I get at The Melting Pot?

Today is me and my boyfriend's one-year anniversary, and we're going to The Melting Pot. We're just going for dessert, which I'm really excited about because I LOVE chocolate. Which fondue should I get? I was thinking about just the plain milk chocolate, but the marshmallow one sounds good, too.

Any suggestions? I'm not a big white chocolate fan. What chocolate fondue should I get at The Melting Pot?
The original is my favorite out of the ones on the menu. However, at the Melting Pot by my house, I had a waiter one time that had his own custom chocolate fondue... it was milk chocolate, peanut butter, Baileys, caramel, and I think he tossed some pecans or walnuts in there... omg it was amazing. Every time I got back, I ask for the "snickers" fondue, which is what the waiter called it. All of the other staff knows what I am talking about because everyone who has ever had this waiter asks for this custom fondue. So maybe your waiter can whip up something special for you that's not on the menu!

Can I make chocolate fondue ahead of time?

I'm making chocolate fondue for my french class. Can I make the sauce the night before, cover it and leave it out at room temperature overnight, and then reheat it in a fondue pot when I get to school? Can I make chocolate fondue ahead of time?
An Easy Make-Ahead Fondue Recipe Idea:

    Gather these ingredients first:

3/4 cup heavy whipping cream, reserve 1/4 cup to thin if fondue begins to thicken

4 bittersweet chocolate bars, chopped, 3 1/2 ounces each

2 tablespoons Frangelico or Amaretto liqueur, optional

1/4 cup finely chopped hazelnuts or almonds, optional

    For garnishing a chocolate fondue:

    Hazelnut or almond biscotti

    Salted pretzel sticks

    Cubed pound cake

    Sliced bananas

    Stem strawberries

    Sectioned navel oranges

    Ripe fresh diced pineapple

Procedure: Heat 1/2 cup cream in a heavy non-reactive saucepot over moderate heat until cream comes to a low boil. Keep stirring the cream to prevent burns at the bottom of the pan. Remove the pan from heat and add chocolate. Let the chocolate stand in hot cream for 3 to 5 minutes until it begins to melt. Then whisk the chocolate together with the cream until a smooth consistency is reached. Stir in the liqueur and chopped nuts and transfer the mix into a fondue pot. Set the mixing bowl on a rack above a small lit candle. For a dramatic touch take help of a fondue fountain apparatus that has a spout to issue forth the luxurious chocolate. Reserve some cream for later additions in case the liquid thickens up.

Arrange your favorite dippables in piles on a platter alongside chocolate fondue with fondue forks, bamboo skewers or sea food forks as utensils for dipping.

This recipe yields four to six servings.

For a more decadent variety of fondue try this recipe. This is again an easy-to-prepare fondue except it does not involve liqueur and is suited for tots at your party.

Fondue Cooking and serving Tips for a Foolproof Fondue Party:

鈥?Serve fondue food in bite size pieces so that they may be easily skewered or be held for hand-dipping.

鈥?Use the right fondue pot as those in ceramic which is an ideal match for chocolate or other variants of dessert fondues.

鈥?Chocolate being the primary ingredient for fondues one must be discreet and discerning in the choice of chocolates used for the purpose. Hershey s, Valhrona, Tobler, Lindt, and Callebaut are some of the recommended varieties of chocolates.

鈥?Cook fondue separately on the stovetop and then serve it in the pot. Do not cook fondue in the pot itself.

鈥?Keep the fondue pot no more than one-third to one-half filled with the chocolate.

鈥?Fondue liquids need to be warm and not boiling. Keep the chocolate warm at a low temperature. 120 degrees F is an ambient temperature for dessert fondues.

鈥?Be mindful of proper sanitation around fondues. Keep buffer reserve of skewers and fondue forks so that guests may not be tempted to dabble their fingers into the fondue. Remember it is a communal pot and hygiene is pivotal.

Setting an Ambience for an Enjoyable Fondue Exeperience:

鈥?Keep several fondue pots depending on the number of invitees. Most pots can accommodate six dippers. Keep extra pots if you are serving different types of dessert fondue.

鈥?Sheath your table with an easy-to-wipe cloth for easy cleaning. Fondues can get messy as food bites are carried from the pot to the plate.

鈥?Serve guests with individual bowls for ease of handling food.

鈥?Wine or beer is often served as accompaniments to a dessert fondue.

鈥?Light a fire in your fireplace to give a cozy ambience and Swiss music at the background for a completely relaxing experience.

Fondues until sometime back was held as an anachronism. Most Americans thrust entertaining with fondue as a regressive idea, thinking it as an old-timer. Undoubtedly the historical roots of this recipe hark back to eighteenth century Switzerland from where it first originated. Deriving from the French verb fondre , meaning "to melt," fondue was a classic peasant dish. It received several makeovers as time flew and now fondue is back as the most unassuming fashion-statement in the culinary industry. It has come to be a retro-rage and the new buzz word for interactive dining at its best. With precedents to evince the comeback of fondues it is time to shed all cynicism if any, for this time-tested treat. Try theCan I make chocolate fondue ahead of time?
