When using a chocolate fondue fountain would i need some kinds of oil with the melted chocolate?

and how should i melt the chocolate chips? When using a chocolate fondue fountain would i need some kinds of oil with the melted chocolate?
Using regular cooking oil can be iffy. If the temperature is not right, it can separate. It can also taste oily. I would recommend buy a pre-hydrogenated chocolate. If you live near a Smart and Final they carry Fountain chocolate for a reasonable price. I get two bags and it last through a 6 hour 100+ person lobster party we throw every year.

Melt the Chocolate in a dry Pyrex bowl over simmering water. You can use any oil as long as it is doesn't have a strong taste.

I like to add a couple of table spoons of Chilli oil when I make a dark choc fountain
