I have a nostalgic chocolate fondue fountain I have never used and I need to use it for a prty tonight. I have lost the instrucitons and I need to know what kind of chocolate to buy ie...semi sweet chocolate chips verses chocolate discs...and also how to prepare it. Do I melt it first and add vegetable oil with it and how much? What kind of chocolate do I use for a chocolate fondue fountain and how do I prepare it?
Fondue Chocolate
Ingredients:
24 ounces semisweet chocolate chips
1-1/4 C. evaporated milk
1/4 C. sugar
2 t. vanilla extract
1 T. fruit flavored liqueur
Place ingredients in cooker. Cover and cook on high 30 minutes. Stir well, cover and cook on low 1 hour longer. Dip pieces of pound cake, fruit, pretzels, cookies or marshmallows into chocolate mixture. Makes 3 cups.
You can buy special chocolate for it.
But if you use normal choccy you will need to add a flavourless veg oil to it to get the correct consistency. What kind of chocolate do I use for a chocolate fondue fountain and how do I prepare it?
Chocolate Fondue
INGREDIENTS
2 cups milk chocolate chips
3 tablespoons heavy cream
2 tablespoons cherry brandy
1 tablespoon strong brewed coffee
1/8 teaspoon ground cinnamon
DIRECTIONS
Combine chocolate, cream, brandy, coffee and cinnamon in a fondue pot over a low flame (or in a saucepan over low heat). Heat until melted, stirring occasionally. Serve at once.
You can use any kind of chocolate you want, but you do need to add vegetable oil to it to get the right consistency. A good estimate is 1/2 cup of chocolate to 5 pounds of chocolate. The higher quality chocolate does taste better. Melt is first and mix the oil and chocolate together, then pour it into the fountain.
Also, be very sure to have the fountain level. What kind of chocolate do I use for a chocolate fondue fountain and how do I prepare it?
In the grocery mart they should have piceces of chocolate already made for fondue. Some fondue fountains heat the chocolate themslves, but if not heat the chocolate in a sauce pan on low.
