I've got a whole list of all the usual things like fruit, cake, marshmallows, cookies, and a few others but I'm after some really creative and unusual stuff that we could dip. Also I was planning on stirring in some Amaretto and finely chopped almonds but if anyone has any other suggestions for things to put in the actual fondue that would be great! Also any general tips for making fondue!! Thanks!I'm making a chocolate fondue for my boyfriend for our anniversary - suggestions for unusual things to dip??
pineapple is the best dipped in chocolate
ohhhhhhhh if only i could tell..I'm making a chocolate fondue for my boyfriend for our anniversary - suggestions for unusual things to dip??
Savoury stuff actually works really well, although doesn't sound as if it would. Try carrot sliced lengthways and raw peppers. And definitely strawberries and pieces of fruit, that goes without saying - you can't do a fondue without strawberries...
Mmm... making me hungry, can I come too?
Dried grasshoppers. That would be very unusual.I'm making a chocolate fondue for my boyfriend for our anniversary - suggestions for unusual things to dip??
get some jack daniels fudge, warm it slightly in your microwave, the chocolate stays soft, and with a hint of that jd flavour, he'll be, erm weak at the knees ;-)
Crystalised ginger is nice.
Sliced up fingers of toast.
Malt loaf.
Wine gums or othey chewy sweets and candy
Of course body parts and warm chocolate make a wonderful sexy combo.
You'll need to add some double cream to the chocolate to make it more liquid, don't use just chocolate. And make sure you get the darkest, bitterest chocolate you can. It tastes different once it's melted and mixed with stuff - melted milk chocolate will be vile in a fondue.
Stirring in a liqueur of some sort is a good idea - it can make the taste very strong though, so only add a tiny bit at a time.
And I say stick to fruits and marshmallows etc, because "unusual" things to dip (apart from fingers and body parts) are usually unusual for a reason (ie, they're not very nice).
I don't want to give a vary naughty answer.... Think for yourself what you can dip n lick that would make both of u happy... ;-)
chunks of banana, cake or doughnut chunks would be good (thats what we have with our usual fruit) and cherries off the stem are amazing too.
Pretzels are yummy! The salt of the pretzel and the sweetness of the chocolate...mmmmm!!!
You can make fondue with chopped Toblerone chocolate bars. It is very good.
Strawberries, cubed spongecake, graham crackers
I would suggest yourselves ........ make sure the chocolate has cooled somewhat before you stick anything delicate in ..... makes for a very intersting evening and chocolate chips off clothes when cold anyway .....
HAPPY ANNIVERSAY xxxxxxxxx
Make up lots of different little dishes so a choice can be made and a change of flavour. Have sweet things, sharp tastes, soft and firm textures. Add some double cream to the fondue to get a super flavour. Some grated ginger gives a rather pleasant taste to the majority of dips.
use his favorite dip
OOH, MATRON!
What about pretzels, shortbread cookie, oreo's, banana chips, Lay's plain potato chips, or candied orange peel. You can buy candied orange peel or find a recipe for it on www.foodtv.com . Instead of Amaretto....why don't you just make a white chocolate fondue %26amp; a dark choc. You could even do a peanut butter choc. one.
Make some mini profiteroles, whipped cream has more uses than eating!! Strawberries are romantic too.
If you like hot things then chillis are nice (mild ones though!) and dried fruit like mango slices and apples rings make a change. Just plain breadsticks are nice too (kind of like Choc Dips) and ice-cream balls (ball with a melon baller, put on a cold plate, stick cocktail sticks in each one and freeze til you want them)- the chocolate would go hard when you dip them.
As for the fondue, remember when you're melting chocolate that even a drop of cold water will make the chocolate seize- it will go grainy and be ruined. A little bit of hot water and butter will make it thick and glossy (but it won't set). Melt chocolate as slowly and gently as you can. Also, without wishing to insult you, get a good quality chocolate because it will stand up better to melting- a darker one is better. Green and Black's dark milk would be great. Enjoy!

I use all that when i get out my chocolate fountain

strawberries ,pineapple
or sponge fingers pretzels etc
dip chunks of chocolate in it . try the fruit called phsayllis . lollypops are nice dipped in chocolate.
Here is a quick simple fondue recipe:
1 pound of premium semisweet or bittersweet chocolate, well chopped
1 1/2 cups of heavy cream
1 tsp. vanilla extract
Set aside the chopped chocolate. Pour the cream into a medium, thick-bottomed saucepan (or double boiler if you have one) over low heat. Bring the cream to a simmer and add the chocolate. Stir until the chocolate is melted. Remove from heat, stir in vanilla. Transfer the chocolate to a fondue pot and enjoy.
You can use regular milk instead of heavy cream, if you like, if you just add a couple of Tbls. of unsalted butter.
If you're already adding amaretto %26amp; almonds, that's probably enough add-ins. If you had 2 or 3 separate pots, you could make different flavors. mint chocolate is good. expresso powder and rum, frangelico is really good (I like it better than amaretto) or Grand marnier for an orange chocolate.
For dippables that are not run of the mill, consider:
frozen twinkies
Crunchy Biscotti
little brownie bites that you could skewer with toothpicks
little rice krispie treat bites
Fresh flaky Croissants
caramels
mini cream puffs (if you have a Sam's near you--they sell them)
lady fingers or sugar wafer cookies
Happy Anniversary!
Polly
Oh you have got to be joking are you having a laugh lol
Amaretto biscuits are divine, and make some florentine biscuits to dip ! croissants work too!
