Trying to plan a retro 60's dinner party - can anyone give me ideas for menu and drinks thx?

Was thinking prawn cocktail to start %26amp; chocolate fondue (fountain) for dessert but struggling with main course and as I was born in 68 i'm struggling for inspiration. Also would like ideas for cocktails %26amp; drinks.Trying to plan a retro 60's dinner party - can anyone give me ideas for menu and drinks thx?
Not sure a chocolate fondue was a 60s thing!

Black Forest Gateau now - THAT was the thing to go with the prawn cocktail!

Main would have been something posh like steak diane or steak au poivre. Chicken thighs baked in ham or bacon with sweetcorn was another I remember being served (when I was very young of course!)

Cocktails would have been served in wide cocktail glasses - margueritas I seem to recall being popular (according to my mum anyway!)
you could fine plates that look like TV dinner containers and serve really good homemade dinner in them. Something like Roast Beef tenderloin, Greens beans with bacon crumbles and roasted red potatoes.Trying to plan a retro 60's dinner party - can anyone give me ideas for menu and drinks thx?
If it's the sixties, you will definitely need some babychams and some Campari!

Have a great time!
Psychadelic looking cocktails might be fun like Midori sour, hypnotiq mixed with whatever you want, vodka cranberries... etc. and serve them in funky style glasses with red and green marchiano cherries on toothpicks plunked in there. There's a place to buy 60s candies that you could put out in bowls.

For cocktails, it has to be home-made Martini or Cinzano

What should I do for my 14th birthday party?

so im going to have a sleepover with 17 other people and i dont know what to do to entertain my guests

i have a chocolate fondue fountain and will have snacks to go with it

i need to know what kind of games/movies/food to have at my party so any ideas are welcome

thanx a bunch! What should I do for my 14th birthday party?
well im about to turn 14 soon and i was worrying about this to. You could play 'have you ever'. For this game everyone sits in a circle and holds up 10 fingers. You go around the circle and everyone says something like "have you ever kissed a boy" or other questions and everyone that has done that puts down a finger and the last one that is still in the game wins. For food i split people into groups of 2 or 3 and lay out tons of food on the counter and each group makes something a let there be a judge and whoever has the best food wins.it sounds stupid but its tons of fun. and some great movies to watch are Stick It, 13 going on 30, Baby Mama, Sisterhood of the traveling pants 1 %26amp; 2, The House Bunny, and Prom Night(but prom night is kinda scary)
Play twister, watch a funny movie, have food and drinks available the whole time. Just keep it active and not boring. What should I do for my 14th birthday party?
get movies

music

and flash lightes

if the weather is okay at night go outside play ghost in the grave yard
Movies to rent:

~Mean Girls

~Sisterhood of the traveling pants 2

~The Clique Movie

~Titanic

~Dream Girls

~Across The Universe

Games:

~Twister (always fun!)

Food:

~Soda

~Pizza

~Chips

~Candy

Anything else your guests might enjoy! What should I do for my 14th birthday party?
If I were you I would rent the movie sister hood of the traveling pants 1 and 2..they are good girly movies...for food you can never go wrong with pizza, nachos, chips and dip. For games twister is an old game but its really fun with all those ppl you got coming...by two or three of those since you have 17 ppl coming..hope you have fun and found this useful!!
Have board games like monopoly, Twister, etc.

for movies you should defiantly have a comedy that no one in the room has seen yet because if they have seen it they will properly get bored

and ruin it for everyone.

and for foods you should order pizza and lots of junk food but at least have something that is not junk because its bad for health and someone might get sick and you don't want that.

and you could ask people that are going what they want to do before the sleepover that way you have everything ready. and you should also have music and if you don't want to pay for everything (because 17 people is ALLOT for a sleepover) you should have every person from the sleepover bring 1 thing.
Have everyone bring a bag of change and play 18 people blackjack.

What meal can I make for a woman to really impress her?

There's a girl that I really like, and I would like to impress her by cooking for her on Valentine's Day...

I'm not much of a cook, so something easy and fast would be nice. I have a fondue set that I'd like to use for desert, so maybe something that goes well with chocolate fondue?

Any ideas would help, thanks! What meal can I make for a woman to really impress her?
Cheese on toast. --
How about fish, seafood, or a nice, juicy steak? What meal can I make for a woman to really impress her?
Depends on what her fav. food is.

But, a man cooking in the first place is impressive.

And I love chocolate. =)
I always get take out, ,and throw away the boxes , and put it in cookware to look as if I did it....Thank you Applebee's ,and you too O'Charlie'sWhat meal can I make for a woman to really impress her?
I think you should find out what kind of food she likes and then incorporate those ingredients into a dish she'll like.

p.s. not all women like chocolate.
you can do all types of fondue!

she'll feel like she's at the melting pot. cheese and chocolate fondue's are always good!

find out her favorite food, and go for it.

to go with chocolate fondue, i'd use strawberries, pretzels, bananas, pineapple-fresh is always best, you can also put the chocolate onto almonds, walnuts, or pecans.

have fun! :)
How about spaghetti with ground beef in it and a jar of ragu spaghetti sauce. It is easy to make and really good. Get a loaf of french bread, put some garlic and butter on it. Whip up a quick lettuce and tomatoe salad. A bottle of Italian wine, and you have prepared a wonderful romantic Italian dinner for two. Don't forget candles, soft music, and chocolate fondue for dessert. Good luck. :-)
girls women love chocolate. they like dove candy .milk or dark .but thats love . a meal
Get some filet mignon, butterflied, grill it if possible, no larger than 8oz. wrap edge in bacon if you want more flavor.

Cook up some wild rice or normal as small side dish. Instant rice can work easy, 1 minute.

Get some dinner rolls or biscuits from store, tube or package is fine, just get name brand, not store brand.

If old enough to drink, nice bottle of wine to go w/ the meal.

Single large lilly with carnations around it in small glass vase as center piece.

Lights turned low or even better, multiple candles for light w/ one being a vanilla candle....for "the mood" if you know what I mean.

Soft music or instrumental only in background playing.

You'll score a 10 my friend and can all be done for well under $100 if not even less.
Check this out.

You could fix a nice ceaser salad, have fish, and for the vegetable you could have maybe some corn. Don't forget the strawberries to go with the chocolate fondue. I hope you have a nice time with your friend.

I need help planning a chocolate party?

I am hosting a chocolate party. Since it will take place around Christmas, we are having a grab bag. There will be a chocolate fountain, fondue, and things like that. What i need help with are activities. I'm open to a lot, murder mysteries, scavenger hunts, contests. I have a limeted budget. It will be teens ages 14-18 and it will be cold out... so outdoor things should be limeted.

Anyway, your help with be appreciated! I want this party to be great :)I need help planning a chocolate party?
Give each of your friends a cup of melted chocolate with cookies, pretzels, fruit and a lot of fun stuff to dip. Each of your friend should have a definite work area with wax paper to dry its creations. After they finish, give each of your friend a box with their names written on it and stuff it with all the chocolates they have made. P.S. Make sure you put their treats in the refrigerator and that your guests must get their treats out before leaving the party.

Games/Activities Ideas --

Santa Says - Played like the traditional “Simon Says” game but use Santa instead.

Name That Christmas Song or What Lyrics Are Next? - Play a few seconds of popular Christmas tunes and let guests guess the name of the song. For a different version of this game, play certain lyrics and stop the song at a certain point and let them guess what lyrics come next. The one who guesses any of the right answer, gets a prize.

Colored Ball Ornaments - Get ornaments at craft stores to decorate. Purchase clear glass balls. Get few colors of acrylic paint. Open the top of the ornament. Squeeze a small amount of one color into the opening of the ball. Swirl around to coat the insides. Continue with different or the same colors. When done, reposition cap of the ball. Spray paint the outside of the ornament lightly with spray glue. Sprinkle fine glitter on the outside. Let dry. Tie with a pretty bow.

(For Sleep-over) Guess Who - A blind identification game that involves sleeping-bag swapping. One guest leaves the room, and the others jump into sleeping bags (not their own) and pull them over their heads. The guest reenters the room and lightly touches the bags, trying to guess who is inside.

Guess How Many Jar - Fill and decorate a large jar with chocolate candies, like M%26amp;M's or individually wrapped chocolates. Be sure to count all the pieces first! Let each guest guess how many are in the jar by placing their guess on a small piece of paper. The winner takes home the prize.

Chocolate Puzzle - Buy some identical chocolate bars and use a knife to break each into odd shaped pieces, place the broken bars nto seperate bags and the first person to reassemble their bar wins a prize

Whipped Cream Hidden - Make a large pile of whipped cream with chocolate hidden in it, the girls each have 30 seconds to find as many as they can not using their hands

Chocolate Toss - Have the guests toss chocolates onto targets

Have fun!!!I need help planning a chocolate party?
you could split them up into teams and have them make gingerbread houses. You could also do the game where everyone gets a sticker of a celebrity on their back and people go around and help that person guess their celebrity. you could also do that guessing where they can guess the number of hershey kisses in a jar and whoever wins gets the jar of candy. Hope these ideas helped!!!

  • Ideas for a fondue party?

Having a party of 10 coming over for a fondue party on Saturday. It's gonna be a chocolate fondue party. What's some good foods to dip on that's moderately healthy, it doesn't have to be super healthy just moderately. What's foods I can have other than for fondue, but I want the food to compliment the fondue. It's gonna be a longish party. About 3-4 hours long. So also how do you properly do a chocolate fondue party?

    Summary:

-how do you properly host a chocolate fondue party?

-what's good sides for dipping in the chocolate fondue?

-what's good food that's not dipped in the fondue, but will compliment the chocolate?

The chocolate is gonna be normal sweet chocolateIdeas for a fondue party?
For dipping: pretzel rods, strawberries, large marshmallows, angel food cake, Nutter Butter cookies, and maraschino cherries (take out of the liquid and drain well first).
To complement: I'd say just go with appetizer type foods: finger sandwiches (maybe some w/chicken salad and some w/deli turkey), veggies and dip, Lil' Smokies in bbq sauce, cubes of cheeses: cheddar, pepperjack, and monterey are good, bacon-wrapped water chestnuts, etc.
Make sure each guest has a small plate so the fondue dip doesn't get too messy.
I like frozen or non-frozen pieces of banana dipped in chocolate the best and it's healthy.
I think finger foods like cucumber sandwiches would taste good alongside chocolate. Even better if the cucumbers in the sandwiches were dressed with a kind of sweet and sour dressing, like the dressing used with chopped cucumbers in thai food restaurants. Use toasted bread for this kind of sandwich.Ideas for a fondue party?
Chocolate should obviously be sweet like you said, but I'd mix some dark in, if you're using milk chocolate.

For proper hosting, make sure everyone has their own fondue fork, and then also a small spoon.

I'd provide a mixture of dipping sides. Some people like salty with chocolate, so ritz crackers, potato chips, pretzel rods. Other people like sweet on top of sweet, so vanilla wafers, pound cake, etc. Fruit is obviously a good choice. Strawberries work, orange segmants, dried cherries. Once, I saw grapefruit segments go over like gang-busters.
I had a chocolate fountain at my baby shower. We had all sorts of fruit marshmallows and graham crackers. For the other food we just had finger sandwiches. Is your party going to inside ? If not make sure its not windy because the chocolate will be on everything .Ideas for a fondue party?
Well good dipping food for chocolate is : Strawberries Bananas Angel Cake (plain)
    I know! Have chocolate!

What's the best dessert you have ever had in a restaurant?

i just went to " melting pot" ( a chain fondue restaurant) in minneapolis and had the best dessert there.

    it's a chocolate fondue.

it comes with borwnies, cookies, cheesecakes, banana, pineapples, strawberries and etc.

you just dip those foods into melted chocolate sauce and eat.

it was heaven. What's the best dessert you have ever had in a restaurant?
OMG I have had that before and it is wonderful. We had big marshmallows too and that was my favorite dipped in the chocolate. And that is good, but my favorite dessert is at El Chico, a Mexican restaurant. It's Mexican apple pie and it is a big piece of apple pie served on a sizzling iron platter covered in a brandy butter sauce with cinnamon ice cream on the top. Its so hot you will burn your mouth if you are not careful. After eating a big Mexican dinner, me and my husband always share one and we fight over the last bites scraping the brandy sauce off the platter. Its sooo good.
my favorite would have to be a caramel bonbon! ;)What's the best dessert you have ever had in a restaurant?
Almost anything from the Cheesecake factory.

    Love that place
Spago Beverly Hills, Fresh Cake (it was a Birthday!)What's the best dessert you have ever had in a restaurant?
I love warm brownies with chocolate sauce and ice cream!! I also like pecan pie!
I love the blondies at Applebees!
I had a ten-layer, ice-cold chocolate cake from Charlie's Steakhouse. It was the most scrumptious piece of heaven that I have ever tasted.
cheese cake....and this one place had a molten triple chocolate cake...now that was heaven!!!
Hot fresh blueberry pie with a scoop of of vanilla ice cream on top. My mom and dad took me out special for my 12th b-day and that was my desert.... and is rarely a desert.... usually unexpected... but the blueberry vanilla..... brings me back to birthday.... age 12.
my fave is chocolate topping, um!!
I used to get a "hot fudge cake " at Bobs big boy, but they closed the ones in town, so... now i get some really good bread pudding with lemon sauce at a locals restaurant in town
that sounds delicious but the best dessert i have had would have to be the chocolate molten at chillys it is a chocolate cake shaped like a volcano with melted chocolate on the inside and a scoop of vanella ice cream on top
Death by Chocolate mousse. 3 layers, white chocolate, milk chocolate and dark chocolate, mixed with tiny rum vermicelli.
wow... chocolate fondue.... the Melting Pot is such a rip.... lets see... i have to cook my own food, i get a few ounces of beef and some veggies and some bread, with hot oil and melted cheese... i went to a melting pot once, cost over $100 after tip for two of us, and we went out for some taco bell about an hour later
I WOULD HAVE TO SAY THE 7 LAYER "MOTHER LOAD" CAKE FROM CLAIM JUMPER IS MY PERSONAL FAV. ITS RIDICULOUSLY GOOD. BUT YOU NEED ALL YOUR FRIENDS OR FAMILY MEMBERS TO HELP YOU EAT JUST ONE SLICE IT'S HUGE!!!!

WOW! THE CHOC FONDUE SOUNDS GREAT!!!! OKAY WHERE ARE MY HERSHEY KISSES AT? I'M DEF GETTING A SWEET TOOTH RIGHT NOW!!!
Love Banana Foster-it's a dessert they flame.

I had this with cake on bottom, then ice cream and the

banana's in a butter rum sauce, then they light the whole thing on fire! Really good stuff!
ritz calrton in west palm beach. chocolate mouse filled with creme brulee and gingered pineapple, to die for.
The maple blondie at Applebees, and the Napoleon from Sam Seltzers
    Tiramisu - I LOVE that! :)

    Fondue...?

    how to make chocolate fondue..?Fondue...?
Flaming Turtle Chocolate Fondue from the Melting Pot restaurant

    INGREDIENTS:

    1/4 cup milk

    1/2 cup milk chocolate

    1/4 cup caramel syrup

    2 Tbsp pecans, chopped

2 Tbsp rum, 151-proof for flamb茅

    .

    For the Dipping Basket:

Fruit, cut (strawberries, bananas and pineapple)

    Marshmallows

Cake, cubed (pound cake and cheesecake)

    PREPARATION:

Soften milk chocolate in the microwave. Heat milk in the fondue pot. Once it's hot, add softened chocolate. Stir until you have a smooth consistency. Pour caramel into a pool in the middle of the chocolate. When it's time to serve, pour the rum over the top of the chocolate. Leave a small amount on the spoon to ignite with a lighter. Use flaming spoon to ignite the rum on the chocolate. Add the chopped pecans to the chocolate. Allow the flame to burn out.

Note: All dipping items should be skewered and dipped in the chocolate. Be careful as you reach the sides and bottom of the fondue pot; the chocolate tends to be hotter there.

    Yield: 2 servings

Suggestion use whipping cream instead of milk and leave off the rum if desired.Fondue...?
To be honest I use a high % cocoa solids chocolate like green and blacks, I melt it down over a pan in a dish of water and then add a little cream to thin it down, its gorgeous with fresh pieces of fruit like strawberries, pineapple and kiwi and segments of orange.

I'm visiting my friends in Mazatlan over the holiday season and I'm going to prepare some special treats for them while I'm there. I will be needing Toblerone chocolate bars and Hersheys chocolate syrup for a chocolate fondue I am going to make. Will I have any difficulty finding these ingredients? Or should I bring them with me from home? Are these products easy to find in Mexico?
Yes , you can get Toberlone here. It's at WalMart, Gigante, Ley, Soriana, even Blockbuster! Chocolate syrup is no problem, either. Have fun while you are here! Are these products easy to find in Mexico?
You wont find those items in mexico, but yu will find toblerone bars at your duty free shop in the airport on your way over! And they are extremely cheap!!! About the hershey syrup, i have never seen it in mexico, i am sure you can find some sort of chocolate syrup, but not hersheys. I recomend you just brign your own with you from home. Good luck and have a great time!!! Your friends are sure in for a nice surprise! Are these products easy to find in Mexico?
The Hershey's is no problem but the Toblerone is usually only in the nicer shops and at more than the cost stateside. When I have customers come up from Mexico at Holiday time I always have Pantone and Toblerone as a gift for their holiday table.

I'd like for you to share your easy fondue recipes as well as what foods you used for dipping. For the fondue, I'm looking for all sorts of recipes from savory cheese to sultry chocolate. I have checked the net and found lots of sites, but would would really like to hear about is your personal experiences with throwing 70s theme parties complete with fondue! Thanks!!!I am having a fondue party soon!- A "Flashback to the 70s" bash. Can anyone help me with recipes, etc?
The following *very easy* chocolate fondue recipe is a combination of

several other recipes and some information I received from others on

the net a few weeks ago.

Ingredients: 1/2 cup or 150ml pure cream

1 x 250gm block of GOOD dark chocolate (definitely not

compound chocolate %26amp; the better the chocolate, the better

    the fondue!)

1 - 2 tablespoons of rum or your favourite liqueur

Bring cream to a gentle boil. Remove from heat and add broken up

chocolate. Stir until chocolate has completely melted. Be patient!

Return to very gentle heat only if you have to. Finally, add rum or

liqueur and stir until combined. (Do not add liqueur while the

    chocolate mixture is over heat.)

Use chopped fresh fruit to dip in fondue - especially bananas, rock

melon, pineapple, pears, kiwi fruit, orange and mandarin segments and,

    of course, strawberries.

Try foodtv.com Look up Good Eats. There is an entire episode dedicated to that subject.

Get some good disco music, white suits and shoes for the men, puffy hair and Saturday night fever disco dresses for the ladies. Maybe even the fat Elvis costume from Vegas would be great along with The Bee Gees.

    Have fun.

Now I haven't tried any of these, and I've never had a fondue party, but I have eaten fondue in a restaurant and it was good. The thing that took the longest was cooking the meat in a broth fondue. It was all delicious though.

I hope you have a rockin party! Let us know how it turns out!

What is the one thing that you cannot pass up at a bake sale?? Tips for a bake sale??

I am running a bake sale and I need to know what everyone's favorite goodie is, so I know what to bake. I also need tips on how to run a very successful bake sale. Also, what would you think about having a chocolate fondue fountain set up where you can get fruit dipped in chocolate?? Thanks for all of your input. What is the one thing that you cannot pass up at a bake sale?? Tips for a bake sale??
Cupcakes are great and so are home made cookies. I love lemon bars, and they are so hard to find, that every time I see a bake sale I look for them.

The chocolate fountain wouldn't be my taste, as the cost of good chocolate to make a fountain is quite high (I've had low grade chocolate fountains and they are horrid!) and you can't always make sure that people don't double dip...yuck!

My tip is to wrap a plate of cookies with nice see through wrap and a bow or ribbon, or go to the 99 cent store and purchase some great seasonal plastic plates and make a cookie assortment, wrap and sell for $10. (I would pay $10 for that easily, especially if it was for a good cause)

Another suggestion is to make Rice Krispy Treats and wrap inidividually and sell for 75 cents or a $1 each.

Also try brownies. Just make sure that anything you bake with nuts in it is plainly marked for people with allergies.

Good luck to you. I always love a good bake sale.
Beautiful, big cookies wrapped in a color clear wrap. What is the one thing that you cannot pass up at a bake sale?? Tips for a bake sale??
Brownies %26amp; chocolate chip cookies. I'm going to say, make the display attractive. Put a few harvest leaf decorations around or something, or a small pumpkin arrangement. Use a pretty tablecloth. I'll bet pie would sell well, but few people will bake them.
banana bread! hmmm ceesecake would be awesome everyone 鈾?#039;s cheesecake. but hey im a sugar girl what can i say =]

    p.s.

dont make things very expensive. people like yummies but r only willing to pay so much. What is the one thing that you cannot pass up at a bake sale?? Tips for a bake sale??
carmel apples. its not baked, but its always a hit at bake sales because its one of those things people don't typically have often at home
cupcakes, carmel apples, banana nut bread, apple spice bread, zuchinni orange bread, pumpkin bread, chocolate chip cookies, brownies, cinnamon rolls, (were a hit at my bake sales and so were the breads, sold out everyday).. if you need some recipes for banana nut bread, apple spice bread, zuchinni, or pumpkin' bread or cinnamon rolls just let me know. i got them, i make them all from scratch. good luck.
    I love brownies!!

I love fondue, but I don't know how a fondue fountain would go over at a bake sale. I'd be nervous about double-dippers! It could work if you ladled the fresh fondue in a cup for the person buying it.
the fountain might be tricky if it's not well organised, as far as the goodies, i LOVE the cookies, the big, homemade cookies, snickerdoodle, sugar, peanut butter or m%26amp;m, they have to be big and home made, yum! oh, you should sell some milk too, here's a tip, i know that at Mrs.Field's cookies, the m%26amp;m cookies have to have a blue m%26amp;m somewhere in it because that color attracts people's eyes(especially kids) and it make it look appealing or something, so you might like to try that, i also love sugar cookes with sprinkles yum! good luck with the sale i want to come
    http://baking.about.com/cs/hintsandtips/鈥?/a>

There was some great info on the above site. I also saw Martha do a show on bake sales so check that out.

Thing I go for every time - Brownie or Rice Krispie Treat.
chocolate fountain ----NO,don't do it --- it will be a big mess.

fresh baked buns, scotcheroos, brownies, no bake cookies, popcorn cake, fresh baked Carmel rolls, popcorn balls, decorated cookies on a stick (cookie pops) sell the scotcheroos, brownies, cookie pops, and Carmel rolls individually wrapped, they will never make it home. good luck
CUPCAKES!! Make them colorful... When see a colorful cupcake then i know i cant resist... with sprinkles of course, too! :] lol
Two things come to mind. A double layered chocolate cake, with creamy chocolate frosting, and brownies!

Can baked brie be made ahead and then reheated?

Also, can chocolate fondue be made ahead and then reheated? Can baked brie be made ahead and then reheated?
That would defeat the purpose of baking it ahead. It only cooks for a short time and reheating it will cause it to melt even more. Were you following a recipe, wrapping it in pastry or topping it with another ingredient??Can baked brie be made ahead and then reheated?
brie is a living bateria in another words. If you heat it twice you will end up with mold and it won't be very digestive. So Isuggest not reheating it twice unless you want to pay a visit to the e.r. doctor and nurses. Can baked brie be made ahead and then reheated?
Why heat the brie up twice? Just heat it up once when you want it, it doesn't take long. You have to be careful with chocolate. If it gets overheated it will "seize" up. It gets really thick %26amp; globby (if that's a word). Maybe try keeping it warmed up at an even temperature. Good luck.
Brie: I recommend cutting the brie down to a smaller portion to bake. Wrap all of it individually in puff pastry. Freeze what you don't use.

Fondue: Reheat it using a microwave. Zap for 30 seconds, stir, zap for another 30 seconds, stir %26amp; repeat until warm.

OOOH! I love Chambord. It is a cordial, so it is usually only a topper to mixed drinks. The high sugar content makes Chambord very much perishable, though probably longer lived than 9 months! Drink it straight, as an appartif, or as a flavoring to fruit desserts such as your fondue. If you prefer drinks, try it as you would kir in champagne, a few raspberries, a measure of Chambord, and the bubbly.

    1 teaspoon vanilla extract

I'm turing 30 this year and want to have a party. Like a cocktail party does anyone have any fun ideas?

My colors are white black and pink. And I want a chocolate fondue fountain. and a fun drink but non alcholoic. I need ideas for decorations and party favors and games. And should I keep it small 10-15 people or do it big 30 plus? Thanks for all your help.I'm turing 30 this year and want to have a party. Like a cocktail party does anyone have any fun ideas?
Well I was going to tell you that you should make a theme party like the 70's or 80's and have everyone dress up as if they were in that era, My family always has theme party's and they are the best. You have a color scheme which reminds me of my 21st birthday instead my colors were Black, White and Red!! So the theme I chose was a "Black and White Affair" Have all your guest dress in black and white, those are the only colors they are allowed to wear and you wear a pink dress that way you stand out from everyone else!! I did the same except I wore a red dress!! I tried to think of another theme and all I chould think of was 50's because decorations have your colors in them.. here is a url to some 50's decorations you can get from Party America

    http://www.partyamerica.com/category/the鈥?/a>

Ok as for decorations for the "Black and White Affair" theme I had my party in a huge white tent and decorated the inside of it with christmas iceticle lights and got fish wire and hung different sizes of stars that you can buy at Party America stick with your colors black, white and pink. For table decorations you can black and white table clothes than a lil square pink cloth to put in the middle and on top of that get a clear bowl and put black and white marbels inside than fill with water and light a floating candle. If you would like you could buy goldfish or chinese fighting fish and in each bowl put a fish and that can be your party favor!! around the bowl you can put star confetti again stick with the color scheme. and tie black and white and pink ballons around the bowl as well!! Or if you want to kind of go with the theme tie like 2black and 2 white ballons and just add one pink one!! that way it stands out just like you!! Um... as for drinks I could have told you a bunch of Alcholic drinks but you want non.. so i suggest a good ol fashion Punch bowl!! You should make chocolate covered strawberry's!! with dark chocolate and get white chocolate and add pink food coloring and you can have pink chocolate covered strawberrys MMmmm... Lets see games.. Hmmm.. Don't really know of games for a 30 year old birthday again I know drinking games that's about all.. Maybe you can geta kareoke machine and have people sing!! Oh heres a game. when your guest arrive give them a name tag with a silly name on it. everyone has to refer to that person for the rest of the night by that name. If you call them by their real name than you loose and get a red dot on your name tag to show that you lost but they still have to keep it on that way other people still call them by their silly name the person at the end of the night with their name tag still on with no red mark wins a prize!! Ok now here is an extra idea I'm not sure if you'll like or not but when you mentioned Pink as part of your color scheme I thought of breast cancer awarness!! You can make your party sort of like a fundraiser and raise money for breast cancer research!! You can do a 50/50 raffle if you don't know what that is you buy raffle tickets and sell them for however much money you decide and at the end you choose a ticket and whoever has that ticket gets 50% of the amount of tickets you sold!! You can also have like a lil auction by lil things and auction them off at your party!! Or you can have people donate things to sell and at the end whatever money you consumed you can donate to a charity!! .. but like I said it's only an idea and also for a good cause. Well hope my ideas helped!! Oh and it's up to you on how many people you want to be the host of at your home!!

Sounds like it will be fun. Consider how big your place is and if someone will be truly offended if not invited when determining your numbers. a friend of mine just had a blk/wht party the year b4. she did martini glasses from the dollar store filled with those flat glass marbles they sell at the dollar store or craft stores as centerpieces. you can get pink ones at michaels or ac moore

sprinkle glitter on the tables, maybe do 3 glasses. you can raise them up by covering boxes in blk or wht wrapping ppr. tie balloons to them filled with helium.

lay out blk/wht/pink mardi gras toss beads for favors

well as your gonna be 30 you should invite 29 guests, making up a party of 30 %26amp; if your going for the girlie stuff, i.e. choc fountain etc, why not go for the playgirl bunny theme....would be real fun and you girls would have a right laugh.....failing that go back to school days and have a chic sleep over with chic films and loads of chocolate.........have a lovely time whatever you do
You should have a theme party and have every one come dressed as spys. Because every one knows all the hottest spys are 30+. It's always fun to do a big party if you can afford it. You can do spy themed games, decor and drinks. Good luck.
i will do 15-30 people there cant be too many people or not many you should make a virgin watermelon margarita. that way it's pink. have goody bags too
you can make mock pink ladies.Mock Pink Lady

Your theme can be "the Pink Ladies" like the one in grease

Play simple drinking games, play some other fun music if you don't like the grease musical.

or... your theme can be victoria secret pink, and just play simple games "like panty pass" where you pass a victoria secret bag (with clean new thongs tied with ribbons and a piece of paper of dares) and people choose whomever to pass, the person who recieves the bag must say something funny or weird about them, if they don't say something about themselves, they have to put their hand on the bag and get a thongwitha tied dare on to it and must do a dare?

Does anyone have good appetizer ideas?

I'm cooking my boyfriend dinner for our one year anniversary. (This will be my first time ever cooking a real meal...) I'm probably going to do just a simple chicken and potatoes...and maybe chocolate fondue for dessert, but I was hoping to find a cool appetizer idea.Does anyone have good appetizer ideas?
Umm Chips and dip! always a favorite!!!

    Spicy Chicken dip

    1.cup cooked diced chicken

    1/2. Cup ranch dressing

    1/4 Cup Hot sauce

    1.Pkg Cream cheese

    shredded cheese

Cream the first 4 things together and put in glass piepan ( you could use anyother pan I just like this kind) and put as much cheese as you want on top stick it in the oven at 350* and cook till the cheese is all melted ...serve with tortilla chips

this is super easy and it soooo good!
soup, bread?Does anyone have good appetizer ideas?
i don't a recipe on hand but how about a shrimp cocktail or a cevichi
chop a tomato and half an onion. add garlic and basil. cover with about 3 tbsp. of olive oil. let sit for a couple of hrs.

add some crumbled feta cheese and serve with warm cut up pita bread. - very simple but really tastyDoes anyone have good appetizer ideas?
I like warmed brie with crackers. Or try goat cheese.

If you don't mind being a bit adventurous, home-made guacamole and chips is always delicious.
how about a cheese fondu with bread and crisp vegetables? kind of sexy, I think.
a good dipping salad dressing, like Ranch?, and a selection of crisp veggies and cherry tomatoes.

Enjoy your dinner and don't stress about getting it all ready at the same time!! That is a habit that comes with practice.
Here is an easy one that you both will enjoy, promise. and it is easy and good.

    Mini Onion Quiches

    3/4 cup crushed saltine crackers

4 tablespoons (1/2 stick) butter, melted

    Nonstick cooking spray

1 cup chopped green onion with tops

    2 tablespoons butter

    2 eggs

    1 cup milk

    1/2 teaspoon salt

    1/4 teaspoon pepper

    1 cup grated Swiss cheese

Preheat oven to 300 degrees F.

combine cracker crumbs and melted butter. Divide crumbs among mini muffin tins that have been sprayed with a nonstick cooking spray. Saute onion for 10 minutes in 2 tablespoons butter. Cool, then divide evenly on top of cracker crumbs. Beat eggs; add milk, salt, pepper, and Swiss cheese. Pour by spoonfuls on top of onions in tins. Do not fill to top, as they will run over. Bake until set, about 15 to 20 minutes. Do not over bake. May be stored in refrigerator or freezer. Warm in oven before serving.
    try a nice healthy salad
    Bruschetta:

Take a loaf of French bread and cut it into 1/4-1/2 inch pieces on a 1/2 bias (angle)

Brush the bread pieces with olive oil (optional)

Toast the bread on a baking sheet for 4-5 minutes on 350 degrees

Top the bread with pieces of mozzarella cheese, toast until cheese melts.

When you pull them out top with store bought bruschetta- you can find this with the tomato sauce, Bertoli makes a good one. If you are near Trader Joes, they have a great one.

If you cant find it, chop up tomatoes (get roma or vine rippened) and a little red onion, mix with jarred chopped garlic (fresh is too potent), olive oil, salt, pepper, and a couple tablespoons of pesto.

    Serve immediately.

This is something you should start making after he comes over, it is best right out of the oven.
shrimp cocktail, olive tempenade on crustinis, Brie en crute, Cheese and Grapes with Champagne.
Okay, but this is pretty indian, I am not sure if you would like to experiment, but it tastes great if you do it right.

    Make a batter with some

    rice flour - 2 tbsp

    salt - to taste

fenugreek powder - a wee bit, just for a slight flavour, say a small teaspoon (a pinch)

turmeric powder (a pinch for color)

chilli powder - add a small spoon and see if its not too hot...and if its okay, dont add more.

garlic powder - a wee bit again, perhaps a ''full'' small teaspoon

gram flour (called besan in india) - 4 tbsp

    corn flour - 2 tbsp

Mix all of the above together and make sure it has a batter which has a consistency to coat what you want to fry. I would suggest ladies fingers...because ladies fingers are so soft and tender, you could choose something thats tender inside, and coat it with the batter because the batter would be crisp after frying with the inside all tender, just like it would melt in your mouth.

Try it and let me know. You can add your own variations, If you want, say, shrimps, or perhaps tiny brinjals...or..even home made cheese...as long as the out is tough and the inside is soft....it makes a great appetizer, serve it with sauce of your choice...good luck on your date..
    1/2 cup freshly grated Parmesan

1 sleeve buttery rectangular crackers (recommended: Waverly Wafers)

1 pound sliced bacon cut in 1/2

Preheat the oven to 250 degrees F.

Place 1 teaspoon ( I use more)of the cheese on each cracker and wrap tightly with a strip of bacon. Place the wrapped crackers on a broiler rack on a baking sheet and put the baking sheets on the oven rack. Bake for 2 hours, or until the bacon is done. Do not turn. Drain on paper towels. Serve hot or at room temperature

Cook's note: You can also bake at 350 degrees F for 40 minutes if you're in a hurry!
I make a really yummy cream cheese dip for appitizers when I'm having company or just making a special meal. Just take 2, 8oz blocks of cream cheese and soften them in a bowl with your hands. Add about half a teaspoon of garlic powder and some salt to taste. Add some chopped green onions and mix it all together. Form into a ball and roll in some slivered almonds. I serve it with plain Wheat Thins. Dissappears every time ;)

    1. Combine soup mix, sour cream, mayonnaise, tomato and crumbled bacon in a bowl.

    3. Chill for an hour before serving, however not necessary.

I'm guessing it does not get hot enough for cheese. But maybe if you make the cheese fondue on the stove and eat it up quickly, it won't get too hard or cold in the Hershey pot.

    ** Chocolate Fondue **

It's important to maintain moderately low heat (no more than 120掳F) under your fondue pot so the chocolate stays melted and just warm to the touch. Too much heat can ruin the chocolate.

  • Can I use Hershey Kisses in a fondue?

I have a ton of dark chocolate hershey kisses left over from making christmas candy. Can I use it for my fondue fountain? Also I'm melting it over a broiler, should I use heavy cream when melting it? If so about how much? It's about 20 oz of chocolate. Can I use Hershey Kisses in a fondue?
Yes you can, but melt them in a double boiler.

Heavy cream? Only if you want to lighten the chocolate( making it more of a milk chocolate). And if you do, use only a couple of tablespoons. Can I use Hershey Kisses in a fondue?
For every 6 oz of chocolate you will want 1/2 cup heavy cream and 2 tblspoons of butter. Use a low heat setting - the hershey kiss chocolate may have a lower temp at which the chocolate will burn, but it should work! Can I use Hershey Kisses in a fondue?
you dont need to use heavy cream and i assume that it would be okay to use in a choc.fountain.
    Yes!

How many people will a dessert at the melting pot serve?

I am thinking about going to the Melting Pot for just dessert on my birthday.

I have been there several times and love their desserts. I always take one other person and get the Big Night Out, but I just want dessert this time. There are 5-6 people in our party. If we order 1 regular sized (compared to small) chocolate fondue, will that be enough for all of us?How many people will a dessert at the melting pot serve?
well i went there with my mom, dad, and grandma and we ordered 1. we were talking and eating, and then we realized that it was gone in like 2 minutes. and they all said that they had only had about one bite each. so apparently i had eaten the whole thing by myself. oops (: so we had to order another one. so i would suggest you definitely get 2 for that many peopleHow many people will a dessert at the melting pot serve?
I think one might not be enough(depends on how hungry you guys are). Try 2. :)

    Fondue

Fondue is quite possibly the most fun you can have with a meal. Easy to make and very versatile, this unique dish can be a romantic dinner for two or a party supper for six.

The term “fondue” comes from the French word “fondre” (“to melt”), which refers to the contents of a fondue pot. Fondue is usually made with cheese, but can also be made from chocolate or hot oil. It is eaten by spearing small cubes of French bread (or other ingredients) with a long fork and dipping them into the delicious mixture.

  • Making Chocolate Molds?

When I melt the chocolate wafers to pour them into molds, they harden in minutes, and i can pour the chocolate. I saw a Hershey's fondue thingy that has a little candle below it, to keep the chocolate warm and liquidy. Any other suggestions?Making Chocolate Molds?
I see your problem. I use a double boiler for melting chocolate and then keeping the melted chocolate warm. If you don't already have a double boiler, you can fashion your own by putting water in a large saucepan, then put the chocolate into a heat-proof bowl which is larger than the top of the saucepan. Heat the water in the pan to boiling, and stir the chocolate in the bowl above the water till it melts. Make sure you don't get ANY water in the chocolate, though.

You can remove the pan with the bowl intact from the heat when the chocolate has melted and you'll have plenty of time to work with it because the water in the pan below will still be very hot.

    That should help you.

Would you consider this a cool party for a thirteen year old?

I'm inviting my whole class, plus a few others to my house from 3-10 for a "Death by Chocolate" party. I'm going to make a jenga made of wafer biscuits dipped in chocolate, we'll play the chocolate game, there will be a chocolate fondue fountain with lots of fruits, nuts and lollies to dip in it, we're going to watch Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, there will be a badminton net, trampoline and ps2 with singstar and buzz. For dinner we will make our own pizzas and have hot chips with them... :D

We already have the fountain, net, trampoline and singstar etc so really we only have to buy the food/drinks and rent a few playstation games and the movie. I think it will be about $180ish. Do you think it would be a cool party?Would you consider this a cool party for a thirteen year old?
Sounds fun, but also a lot of work. You're braver than I am!
OMG! That actually sounds like a great party, I'm kind of jealous :)Would you consider this a cool party for a thirteen year old?
OH MY GOSH Please invite me!!!! Love the jenga game! And be sure to get both the old and new Willy WOnkas.

For favors, you could buy Wonka bars (they really sell them), or you could give out paperback copies of Charlie and the Choco Facotry by Roald Dahl.

Also, isn't there a dessert called "Death by Chocolate?" Might want to fix that, too!

    Sounds so creative and FUN!!
Sounds awesome. I know, when I was that age, I never did anything so cool.Would you consider this a cool party for a thirteen year old?
is sounds like a fun unique party, id rather go to it than host it though, have funx
That would be a awesome party. That would be sooooooo much fun to go to.
    OMG!

i wish u could invite me in ur party!

sounds fun but i think ur party needs a lot of work and preparations..and did you mean ur whole class? for me,that ain't going to work, cause if u invite all of ur classmates,u will not be able to entertain all of them..
That sounds fun, but do you really want to invite your entire class...? That just sounds like a lot of people, and when there's a lot of people, it usually becomes less intimate (not too mention more stressful since you've got to look after all of them and make sure they're having fun). Wouldn't it be better if you just invited some of your best friends over to have a party instead? 5-6 kids sound much better than inviting a whole class over because you'll actually talk to the 5-6 others and really have fun without having to worry that not everyone's getting the same amount of attention. *shrugs* But then again, it's your party... do what you want.
    INCREDIBLE idea!

Its very very good, and I dont think i could think of all that by myself, haha.

Your very smart, and anyone going to that party is extemely lucky.

Although i have 2 things to say. I agree with the fact that your entire class might be too many people, so narrow it down to at the maximum, 12 people.

Then ask these people, without mentioning the party, wether or not they even LIKE chocolate.

Though it may seem impossible, alot of people, especially younger, dislike chocolate, and it would be a shame to invite them to a chocolate themed party when they don't even like the stuff!

If they don't then move onto someone that wasnt on the list, and ask THEM if they enjoy it.

Hope your party is fun and successful!

    Good Luck!
yep that sounds like a lot of fun for 13......games, ps2, and lots of food...hope you like cleaning afterwards jeje

Does anyone have a good idea for V-Day dinner?

I want to cook. Something mmm thats an aphrodisiac mabey... I know I want to cook chocolate fondue in my new fondue pot so a good recipe for that would be nice and then something for dinner.Does anyone have a good idea for V-Day dinner?
Choose oysters for appetizer, then a really wonderful pasta recipe with a good wine. Serve the pasta with homemade garlice bread (here is my recipe) and a tossed salad with homemade dressing or my Caesar Coleslaw, which is wonderful. Here are some suggestions:

    Fettucini Carbonara

    1/2 pound bacon

    1/4 cup whipping cream

    4 beaten eggs

    1 pound fettucini, cooked

    1/4 cup butter, melted

    1 cup grated parmesan cheese

    1/4 cup snipped parsley

Heat oven-proof serving dish in 250 degree

oven. In skillet cook bacon till crisp. Drain; crumble. Heat cream till just warm. Remove from heat; beat in eggs. Toss pasta with butter. Pour egg mixture atop. Toss till well-coated. Add bacon, cheese, and parsley; toss to mix.

    Sprinkle with pepper. Serves 6.

    And now relax, good luck..

    Chicken Scampi

    1/2 cup butter

    1/4 cup olive oil

    1 tsp dried parsley

    1 tsp dried basil

    1/4 tsp dried oregano

    3 cloves garlic, minced

    3/4 tsp salt

    1 Tbsp lemon juice

4 boneless, skinless chicken breast halves, sliced lengthwise into thirds

In a skillet heat the butter and olive oil on medium high heat until butter is melted. Add parsley, basil, oregano, garlic and salt and mix together. Stir in lemon juice.

Then add chicken pieces and saute for 3 minutes or until white. Lower the heat and cook for about 10-15 mintues or until chicken is cooked through. More butter can be added if needed. Serve chicken over hot angel hair, or other pasta and pour some of the sauce over it all.

    Creamy Cajun Chicken Pasta

    2 servings 25 min 10 min prep

2 boneless skinless chicken breasts, cut into thin strips

4 ounces linguine, cooked al dente

    2 teaspoons cajun seasoning

    2 tablespoons butter

    1 thinly sliced green onion

    1-2 cup heavy whipping cream

    2 tablespoons chopped sun-dried tomatoes

    1/4 teaspoon salt

    1/4 teaspoon dried basil

    1/8 teaspoon ground black pepper

    1/8 teaspoon garlic powder

    1/4 cup grated parmesan cheese

Place chicken and Cajun seasoning in a bowl and toss to coat.

In a large skillet over medium heat, saut茅 chicken in butter or margarine until chicken is tender, about 5 to 7 minutes.

Reduce heat add green onion, heavy cream, tomatoes, basil, salt, garlic powder, black pepper and heat through.

Pour over hot linguine and toss, with Parmesan cheese.

    Traditional Shrimp Scampi

Preparation time: 30-35 minutes but if you purchase your shrimp already peeled and de-veined the prep time should be reduced to about 15 minutes. Serves 6-8.

    Ingredients:

2 pounds medium-size fresh shrimp (either 16-20 count or smaller ones), peeled and de-veined or unpeeled and un-deveined

    1/4 cup chopped green onions

    1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley

    4 cloves garlic, crushed

    3/4 cup butter, melted

1/4 cup dry white wine (chardonnay or pinot grigio)

    2 tablespoons lemon juice

    3/4 teaspoon salt

    1/4 teaspoon freshly ground pepper

    Parmesan cheese, freshly grated

    Instructions:

Peel and de-vein shrimp unless you purchased P %26amp; D shrimp. You may choose to butterfly the shrimp as well (see note below)

Saut茅 green onions, parsley, and garlic in butter until onions are tender

Reset heat to low and add shrimp. The shrimp should be added in a single layer on the pan (cook two batches if necessary or use two pans).

Continue cooking, stirring frequently for 4 to 5 minutes

Remove shrimp with a slotted spoon to a serving dish and keep warm

Add remaining ingredients to butter mixture and simmer for 2 minutes

    Pour butter mixture over shrimp

Serve this shrimp recipe over linguine or Angle Hair pasta. If you wish to do likewise, cook about 1 pound of the pasta of your choice. Add freshly grated Parmesan cheese on top.

These shrimp are also excellent when served over rice.

    Homemade garlic bread:

    1 cube real butter

    3-4 cloves garlic, minced

    Saute together about 5 minutes.

Spread on fresh sliced french bread with a pastry brush. Heat under the broiler until light brown. Yummy!!

    Caesar Coleslaw

    1 pkg pre-made coleslaw

    1/4-1/2 cup shredded parmesean cheese

    1/2 pkg caesar croutons

    1 bottle creamy caesar dressing

Toss first three ingredients together. Add enough dressing to coat. It's even good the next day!

Or forget the pasta recipe and use your fingers. This one is a romantic favorite of mine and my husband's:

    Beer Boil

2 pounds of large shrimp (don't shell them)

    2-3 cans beer (any kind)

    water

    1 pound kielbasa sausage

    crab (king crab is best)

shrimp and crab boil (in any supermarket)

Slice the kielbasa into serving pieces. Wash the shrimp in cold water.

In a large pot, bring to a boil the beer, shrimp boil, and enough water to cover shrimp, etc.

Add crab and sausage. Cook 5 minutes. Add shrimp and cook until shrimp turns pink. Dump into a big pot. Use your fingers!!! Serve with melted butter, Gold Dipt cocktail sauce, and spicy mustard. Add frozen corn with the shrimp, if you like corn.

Mostly, if you stare into each other's eyes...it will be a special dinner. Have fun!

Heat a large skillet over high heat. Pat steak dry and season generously with salt and pepper. Add oil to hot skillet and when it begins to smoke add steak. Reduce heat slightly and cook steak until browned, about 4 minutes on each side. Transfer skillet to the oven. Roast until an instant-read thermometer inserted sideways into the steak registers 120 degrees F for medium-rare, about 6 to 8 minutes. Transfer steak to a cutting board and let it rest for 10 minutes. Cut steak from the bone and carve meat across the grain.

    FONDUE

    1 1/4 cups half-and-half

    1 teaspoon almond extract

    24 ounces semisweet chocolate chips

    1/2 cup amaretto

    Bananas, desired amount

    Pound cake, desired amount

    Butter cookies, desired amount

    Apples, desired amount

In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine half-and-half and almond extract. Heat until bubbles begin to form at edge of cream. Do not boil. Reduce heat to low and stir in chocolate chips, stirring constantly. Once all of the chocolate is melted and incorporated, slowly stir in amaretto until combined.

Pour chocolate mixture into fondue pot and serve with goodies for dipping.

Cook's Note: You can use this recipe with a heated chocolate fountain.
Oysters is a great suggestion - they are supposedly an aphrodisiac. They are great raw or do smoked ones with crackers. If you don't like oysters, do some shrimp cocktail, or crab stuffed portabella mushrooms. Also asparagus is purportedly an aphrodisiac, so some steamed or roasted spears, alongside a small rack of lamb or some filet mignons would be wonderful! Be sure to get a bottle of wine or champagne, too! And don't forget the candles!

What are some fun wedding ideas for young couples?

I will be getting married at age 18 or 19. Getting married young is very common and acceptable in my family. What would be some cool, interesting things to do for the ceremony and reception? We don't want it to be just like any other wedding. My guy doesn't have any ideas yet. One of my cousins had a chocolate fondue fountain, but I don't know if I want to copy her. It will probably be an October wedding (on our anniversary), or around the fourth of July. Any other tips? Thanks! What are some fun wedding ideas for young couples?
    October:

    Jack-O-Lantern Center pieces

Decorate with Autumn leaves (Or use a color scheme similar)

You could also have candy dishes (maybe candy corn)

You could use corn cobs and maybe hay barrels to decorate, or do a pumpkin patch theme.

    July:

Instead of the walking through bubbles you could have all the guest light sparklers.

    do something with beach balls

you could do a pool theme...you could totally do a back yard pool party bash! Could be a lot of fun! What are some fun wedding ideas for young couples?

Cheese fondue equipment vs. hot oil fondue equipment?

could i use the oil fondue equipment i have to make cheese fondue or chocolate fondue?Cheese fondue equipment vs. hot oil fondue equipment?
The ceramic insert that comes with some fondue pots helps to keep cheese and chocolate from scorching. The inserts sits in a water bath inside the fondue pot.

To use your fondue pot without an insert, you should make the fondue on the stovetop first and then add it to your fondue pot. Keep the heat as low as possible on the fondue pot. You will have to stir your fondue constantly to keep it from scorching on the bottom.

The source I have included has some really good recipes and tips for cheese and other fondues.Cheese fondue equipment vs. hot oil fondue equipment?
Yep. If it gets hot enough to heat up oil, it's hot enough to melt cheese. Try not to burn the cheese in the pot and allow it to get to hot.

  • How hard is making fondue?

Please look at link below. Wondering if I buy this fondue set, how hard is it to make? Wanted to do something different this weekend w/the kids, but not too complicated. I saw recipes calling for heavy cream, oil, different alcohols, using a double broiler too. Can I just throw chocolate in this and melt it to dip stuff, or is it more complicated like recipes say? INGREDIENTS

1/2 of (12 ounce) package milk chocolate

    2/3 cup milk

    3 teaspoons vanilla extract

    DIRECTIONS

Dip strawberries, brownies, marshmallows, bananas or pound cake into chocolate.
Fondue is very easy, but you do need to follow the recipes to keep whatever you're cooking from burning. You can't just put plain chocolate in there and let it melt. Most recipes will have you add some oil, to keep the chocolate from burning and hardening in your pot. If you are using meats to dip, too, you have to make sure your mix gets hot enough to cook the meat. It might not be something for younger kids, but it's definitely an experience you should try. Once you get the hang of it, you'll discover many ways you can cook things from a fondue pot. It's tasty and fun!How hard is making fondue?
Very easy...all fondue is...is melted cheese...you heat up two or three differnt kinds of cheese and dip breed in it..or you could use chocolate and dip fruit in it...

Easy...a fondue pot makes even easier...

I have a chocolate fondue fountain that is having issues...the chocolate climbs up the middle but stops and doesn't come out the topChocolate fountain malfunction?
Did you follow the instructions? You need to add either vegetable or olive oil to the melted chocolate, this helps it go through the machine easier.Chocolate fountain malfunction?

    14th birthday party : chocolate-spa party?

So for my birthday I'm thinking of inviting 4-5 girls and having a chocolate-spa party. We're gonna have chocolate fondue and watch Chocolat or Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (which do you think is best ?). I'd like to have homemade manicures and facials. Do you know any recipes ? Do you think it's better to make them before they come or all together ? We could also play the chocolate-dice game, or do you think it's too childish ? Do you have any other ideas ? (I have a low budget...).

    Thanks !!!14th birthday party : chocolate-spa party?
personally i think that this is a great idea - if u can find a chocolate fountain (if that is too expensive to rent, just melt chocolate in a big bowl) u guys can dip fruit in it. i think that if ur just inviting ur close friends they wont think that it is too childish; about the facials i think that there is some recipe where u have to mix avocado and honey - but im not sure, im sure there are some recipe's where u just have to buy regular grocery store stuff (dont do the mud mask - cause if u think about it, all mud is worm poo...). have a great party!happy birthday!14th birthday party : chocolate-spa party?
I think this is a great idea and playing the chocolate dice game would be lots of fun.

I'd watch Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, it is sorta crazy and would be more fun to watch I think!

You can make chocolate truffles by mixing 3 cups of semisweet chocolate chips and 1 can sweetened condesned milk and stiring constantly over medium heat until melted. Pour into a bowl and let cool. (do this before the party - allow at least 2 hours for it to cool). Then, give each girl some of this mixture and let her roll in up into balls and dip into sprinkles, powdered cocoa, etc. You've made truffles!

You can also make s'mores, hot chocolate, etc.

Maybe have a chocolate fountain too.

    Sounds yummy!

    Sounds great!

You might add a chocolate wrapper game --

    Here's how:

In a plastic zip lock bag (one bag per girl or team of 2 girls) Put together chocolate wrappers -- ( with candy in them, why not? A few bags of miniature chocolate bars should give you plenty to work with) -- along with a pair of kid's scissors, a

glue sticks, tissue paper, ribbon, doilies, and a paper doll.

Have each girl construct a dress for the doll out of the things in the bag. You can give a prize of a Big Chocolate Bar.

    Or

Have them make a collage out of the items pasting them on a large poster board.

    Or

Have a Chocolate Fountain or Chocolate Fondu with giant Strawberries and Chocolate Cake!

And here is a must do for the fab party you are planning; go to:

    http://www.your-vegetarian-kitchen.com/e鈥?/a>

and check out three pages of awesome eggless cake recipes -- Bake one big one or several cupcakes -- and have them decorate them with chocolate!

    Have fun!14th birthday party : chocolate-spa party?

I'm doing a french project on a french speaking country and i chose Switzerland and im doing fondue but?

I am doing a french project on a french speaking country and i chose Switzerland and i am suppose to be doing fondue but i decided to do chocolate instead of cheese. Do you think that is okay? Or should I just do cheese instead? Help me please...I'm doing a french project on a french speaking country and i chose Switzerland and im doing fondue but?
I'm sorry if this sounds a little bit harsh but I have to say it as it is: There is NO chocolate fondue in Switzerland. Chocolate fondue is an American invention and a disgrace to the real fondue. A real fondue is a cheese fondue. You can use Gruyere or a mixture (so-called moitie-moitie) of Gruyere andVacherin. You can also buy ready-to-go mixtures over the internet (http://www.igourmet.com/shoppe/prodview.鈥?/a> or at WholeFoods, Trade Joe's etc.

Oh, I forgot to mention that the Swiss also eat meat fondue (in oil or broth) but if you're doing a project on Switzerland you definitely should make a cheese fondue. For sure NO chocolate.
It depends. Is this an assignment that you have some wriggle room, or did the teacher specifically assign you the subject?

If you can do what you want, I'd go with the subject you feel you can talk about the most.I'm doing a french project on a french speaking country and i chose Switzerland and im doing fondue but?
It depends because fondue is fondue no matter what it tastes like. Cheese fondue is more traditional but chocolate is nicer. If you have to do fondue then it shouldn't matter if it is cheese or chocolate. Go with your gut feeling
The Swiss are famous for their chocolate. Go with that.I'm doing a french project on a french speaking country and i chose Switzerland and im doing fondue but?
It really depends on your teacher. If they didn't specifically assign cheese fondue then you should be able to choose to write it on chocolate fondue. If you prefer to write about chocolate fondue, it should be fine.
