Michaels and I think even Walmart sells the chocolate specifically for chocolate fountains....better to use that, because regular chocolate can clog up the mechanisms and it won't even work in the first place.
But if you don't want to use that, I would suggest thinning it out with cream.
Definitely you need to get pre-made fondue. I order from Sir Chocolate, www.fondue4you.com they have semi, milk and white fondue and they also can do colored chocolate fountain fondue. This stuff taste great and is easy to use. One 4lb bags fills my little home chocolate fountain perfect.

Be sure to melt your chocolate in the microwave before adding it to the machine.
Finally, vegetable oil is suggested to think chocolate, but it changes the taste. If you can get it, use Paramount crystals (palm kernel oil, lecithin, and citric acid - all help to smooth the chocolate) instead of vegetable oil

Don't worry, the vast majority of chocolate fountains have the far superior auger styleWhat kind of tip can make my chocolate smoother for my chocolate water fountain?
You need to keep the chocolate hotter. Don't try and thin it down, adding liquids (especially water) will cause the chocolate to thicken and get lumpy.
Doesnt it say what kind of chocolate to use right on the box? Anyhow you could add cream (like heavy cream or half %26amp; half)
keep the chocolate hot
add milk
