Best fondue pot? burner for gelled fondue fuel or electric?

After a night out at the melting pot, of course I now want my own fondue set. When searching through my options I see that there are electric sets and also some that have burners you fill with gelled fondue fuel. I am wondering which type most would recommend. I am looking for a set that would be versatile enough to be used for cheese, meat/seafood, or chocolate. So if you have any recommendations that would be nice. Thanks for your help!Best fondue pot? burner for gelled fondue fuel or electric?
If you don't need intense heat for deep frying meatballs, the electric is fine for cheese and chocolate and simple dippers.

If you want intense heat or want to heat something quickly, the the Sterno type is best.

Environmentally speaking, an electric model is the best, and they are a little safer. Sterno gets pretty hot.

FYI: If you aren't in a hurry an don't mind thrifting, you can find these on a pretty regular basis at most thrift stores. If you want new, that's cool. I'm sure they are pretty reasonable on Amazon of something. Have fun, you dipper, you!Best fondue pot? burner for gelled fondue fuel or electric?
Get an electric one. You can regulate the temperature much better with one. Low for cheese, high to cook beef and shrimp.

Use peanut oil for meat. I like to do shrimp, and flounder fillet, with some pieces of steak. You can feed 4 with a pound of shrimp, a couple of fillets, and 2 pounds of sirloin. Cut the beef about 3/4" cubes and they will cook very quickly. Every bit of dinner will be hot for everyone! Have lots of sauces for dipping.

Easiest would be an electric....Rival is acceptable.

If you want something super nice, check out Le Creuset. It is enameled cast iron...you have to use sterno or other fuel, though.
