Help with a chocolate fondue party?

I turn 22 next month and I decided to have a chocolate fondue party.

I have a recipe for the fondue it's self but what should I get to dip in it?

I'm thinking about getting a chocolate fountain, is it worth the money? The fountain is going to be about $90-$100, plus about $16 for the chocolate that you have to use with it...not to mention the oodles of cookies and marshmallows and fruits to dip in it.

so it's gonna be pretty pricey, I don't mind spending that much money on it, because I can always have other parties and use it, plus I can let my friends use it.

do you think I should get the fountain or just a regular fondue pot? Don't worry about price, which one would you prefer for a more 'sophisticated' party?

what are other things I could dip in the fondue?

the longer the list the better!

Thanks so much

Buy one of those frozen pound cakes, (Sarah Lee?). Cut it into chunks, so yummy with chocholate fondue!! Angel food cake and biscotti are also good.

I also just thought of those frozen cheese cake bites to use as dippers also..

A friend of mine has a fountain, she uses it for every party she throws, I think some people show up just for the fountain.
I'm 20 so we are probably on the same page. I would go with the fountain. Yeah it is a lot of money but like you said it can be used for other occasions.

What to dip:

Strawberries

Bananas

Pineapple

Caramel

Pretzels

Rice Krispie treats

Apples

Angel food cake

Hope I could help
Looks like the last poster had some great ideas for dipping, I think the fondue pot would make the party more intimate and it would be of better quality chocolate.

The one thing that wasn't mentioned, I don't think that is dipped, is marshmallows. Oh my gosh they are so delicious dipped in chocolate fondue! The pretzels too. Delish.
As to things to dip into it...

strawberries

pound cake bites

brownie bites

cheesecake bites

cookies broken in half

pretzels, bananas.

I wouldnt pay all that money for the fountain. You can get a small crock pot at walmart very reaonable and that what I use for my recipe. Check my recipe out and see if you can gather any more ideas from there. The crock pot method works great!
