i am making a chocolate log cake and it requires fondue chocolate such as lindt lindor
what difference does this make as buying this chocolate is quite expensive as it require 450g of it.

You don't have to buy Lindt chocolate - it is quite expensive and not always available.
The baking aisle of the grocery store has a lot of chocolate bars suitable for your recipe. Ghirardelli or even Hershey's makes good chocolate.
As long as the recipe only calls for chocolate and cream, no sugar, you might want to get semi sweet chocolate, or 1/2 unsweetened and 1/2 milk chocolate.
