What else, besides bread, goes with cheese fondue?

Last weekend, we had a chocolate fondue with a tonne of different fruits.

This coming weekend, we would like to try a cheese fondue, but all we can find that really goes with it is bread. To be perfectly honest... bread can get kind boring, even if you have different kinds...

What else would you recommend for a cheese fondue? What else, besides bread, goes with cheese fondue?
Veggies. Raw cauliflower florets, raw broccoli florets, celery or carrot sticks, etc.

l also use warmed up cooked ham cubes sometimes.

Bert
I think I'd experiment with

cooked cubed potato, lightly cooked broccoli, cauliflower, zucchini, pearl onions, fennel, roasted mushrooms

also apples, pears, baked quince slices,

maybe some cooked beef, either cubed or

maybe thinly sliced and wrapped around a smaller than usual bread cube.....

or ham...What else, besides bread, goes with cheese fondue?
mushrooms
Make sure the cheese has some sharpness to it, and you'll find that apples (I like McIntosh here) go well. Also, sweet gherkins also are good here. What else, besides bread, goes with cheese fondue?
Veggies, salad, and ham

not original I'm afraid
Cauliflower, Broccoli, corn chips, baked or fried potato cubes, potato skins, potato chips, pretzels, crackers, cooked beef cubes, cooked pork cubes, mushrooms, cherry tomatoes, tortilla chips, and french fries
No one mentioned mushrooms, try different types I think I'd prefer mine cooked briefly in butter and a little of the wine that you'll be using for the fondue rather than raw. But if you don't like mushrooms it wouldn't matter anyway.
Agree with answerer #1...lots of different veggies go with cheese fondue: cauliflower, broccoli, zuccini or zuccini flowers, other types of squash, tomato with fresh basil, eggplant, etc... Some fruits might also work (apples, pears).

You could also try ham, different types of sausage, prociutto, turkey, chicken, polenta (cubed), meat balls, zuccini or potato pancakes (cut into cubes), breadsticks.

OK, now I'm hungry! :) Have fun!
I saw someone put marshmallows in cheese fondue and it was good. You can also use cauliflower, brocolli, baby carrots, celery, apples, pears, grapes. Delicious!!
Depending on the cheese you are using almost anything goes well with fondue. Good flank steak, chicken, and once your done with the cheese, melt some chocolate and dip different kinds of fruit. You'll love it!
Blanch (boil for a very short period of time to just slightly cook) carrots, broccoli, cauliflower, sweet potatoes, red peppers, cherry tomatoes, zucchini... any veggie that tastes good with cheese is a great one to use (and makes the fondue seem healthier). Also, get some prosciutto and salami to wrap around the bread, and it's awesome!
you can do some apple wedges, pepperoni, shrimp, pretzels.... breads really do go great though with fondue... you could try different kinds like pumpernickle, rye, bread sticks... just to mix it up a bit... or crackers
I like cheese. You can anything with cheese. Apples, chicken, steak, turkey, bread, veggies, and much more. I would recommend being creative- trail and error. You will come across things that are pretty awful, but while exploring you will find a lot of things that will go good with it; PLAY AROUND!
There is a local restaurant in Knoxville, TN called The Melting Pot, they only have fondue dishes. They serve or course bread, but also-apple wedges, cauliflower, broccoli. They also have a Fiesta Cheese dip, which is wonderful with nacho chips. You could also try pretzels.

I put the website for this restaurant on here-shows what they have for their dishes, may give you some more fondue ideas. Good Luck!
