Ive never made chocolate fondue before...ever.
I found this chocolate fondue set in a top shelf that I never use and would really love to use it for valentines day with my boyfriend.
It's one of those small fondue sets where you put the chocolate in a bowl and light a tea-light underneath.
So, do i just put the chocolate (I have Baker's semi-sweet chocolate), light up the candle and wait?
Another thing is that I was originally going to bake a cake (my boyfriend and I LOVE CAKE lol) would I be able to dip cherries, strawberries and bananas and put them directly on the cake(betty croker white cake with icing)?
Clearly, I cook much more often then I bake!
thank you!Chocolate fondue/baking help!?
What I do is look up on google or any other website that can give u the information u need.Chocolate fondue/baking help!?
you should melt the chocolate before putting it in the warming bowl. you just temper it in the microwave, or what I would do is use the double boiler method. This is when you put a little bit of water in a pan, and set it to boil with a bowl on top (glass preferably) and then melt the chocolate. Then I'd add a splash or two of heavy cream to make it smooth, and help it stay smooth. Plain chocolate might just harden back up on you.

thats what rachel ray does.
and of course you can dip things then put them on the cake, but why not just cube up the cake and dip that too! mm chocolate covered cake. I like to dip pound cake because it holds up better. I wouldn't do cherries because of the pit, but if you are fine with it then go ahead. I just get the feeling it would get too messy for my taste.
