Just wanted to hear some different ideas.........Name some foods that you can dip into a chocolate fondue fountain?
Fruits---anything available. If you use apples, peaches, or bananas, sprinkle them with lemon juice after cutting to bite sized pieces to keep them from turning brown.
Cakes--use the pound cakes or the angel food cakes----other cakes break apart too easily.
Mini cookies or teddy grams
small pretzel twists or sticks are really good for that salty contrast.
Besides all the usual fruits, you can use things like cubes of pound cake, vanilla wafers, cubes of brownies. Actually, cubes of most any kind of cake you can think of would be good. Those little mini-size cookies would work well.
Dried apricots are good dipped in chocolate. Nuts like cashews and almonds are yummy with chocolate. Pretzels are great if you like that salty, sweet combination of flavors ... I do.Name some foods that you can dip into a chocolate fondue fountain?
Fresh fruits - bananas, strawberries, grapes, tangerines, pears, apples, raspberries, cherries. Fresh fruit should be ripe but still firm enough to not dissolve while dipping.
Dried fruit - apricots, dates, figs
Cakes or cookies - Bite sized pieces of angel food cake, pound cake, lady fingers, cinnamon buns, twinkies cut into 3's, brownies, cocktail meringues, crisp biscotti, belgium waffles, mini cream puffs
Nut Breads - Nut breads can be served toasted or fresh. Cut into bite sized pieces. Try date nut bread, cinnamon bread, persimmon pumpkin or zucchini breads.
Peanut Butter Banana Dippers - Fill an icing bag fitted with a small star tip with peanut butter . Pipe a star of peanut butter on banana slices. Try pieces of peanut brittle as well
Other's: Ice-cream balls (if they frozen very hard), turkish delight, short bread, fudge pieces, mini doughnuts, crystalised ginger, sugar cookies, fresh spears of coconut, vanilla wafers, rice krispy treats, amaretti
I can add well drained pineapple pieces. Those are yummy with chocolate, though I don't think I'd have guessed it. Angel food cake is good, too. It has such a fine, tight texture that it's very unlikely to fall apart and leave floaties in the fondue!
Oh, and with the last state fair season introducing it, try crisp fried bacon (2" pieces).Name some foods that you can dip into a chocolate fondue fountain?
